    The grammar sectin f this unit fcuses n the verb-ed frm as attributive. Students will understand hw a verb-ed frm r a verb-ed phrase can be used as attributive like an adjective. Meanwhile, Students are expected t learn hw t use the the verb-ed frm in tw different situatins. That is, a verb-ed frm befre a nun r a verb-ed phrase fllwed a nun. Furthermre, they will crrectly apply the usages t fulfilling sme written tasks.
    In the vcabulary-learning sectin , students will learn wrds used t describe persnal qualities and talk abut peple’s characteristics using psitive, neutral r negative adjectives.
    In the listening, students will learn hw t make a phne enquiry frm listening. When listening, students are expected t cmplete different listening tasks by taking ntes fr key detailed infrmatin.
    1. Help the students t master the basic usage f the past participle and use the past participle instead f the attributive clause.
    2. Guide the students t use prper adjectives t describe persnal qualities in the cnversatins.
    3. Help students develp their listening ability and learn hw t make a phne enquiry as a vlunteer.
    4. lead students t learn abut vluntary wrk and strengthen the sense f scial respnsibility
    1. Guide the students t discver and summarize the rules f using the past participle.
    2. Lead the students t learn mre vcabulary used fr describing persnal qualities and apply the relevant wrds t interpersnal cmmunicatin.
    3. Develp students’ listening skills t get key infrmatin in listening and cmplete the cntents f registratin frm .
    Step 1 Grammar--ed as attributive
    Activity 1
    1. Help students identify the part f speech f the verb-ed frm in the fllwing sentences.
    ① In Uganda, Ryan at last saw the finished well with his wn eyes.
    ② Many inspired peple gave him their supprt.
    Ntes: The verb-ed frms are used as adjectives t mdify the nuns when they appear befre nuns.
    2. Identify the part f speech f the verb-ed frm in the fllwing sentences.
    ③ Ryan had trubled believing the wrds spken by his teacher.
    ④ A well built near a primary schl in Uganda cst $2000.
    Ntes: (1) A verb-ed phrase is used after a nun t mdify the nun like an attribute clause.
    (2) The verb-ed frm can express the passive meaning r the past meaning.

    Activity 2 The students read the discussin abut Ryan’s fundatin and rewrite the underlined sentences with the -ed frm.

    Read the passage n Page 17 and use the crrect frm f the wrds t cmplete the fllwing sentences . Students are suppsed t distinguish verb-ed frm verb-ing crrectly.

    Wrk in pairs. Make dialgues using the wrds abut persnal qualities , eg.
    Step 3 Listening
    1. Befre listening, guide the students t read “Did yu knw?” s that students learn abut charity wrk in sme different cuntries. Students are expected t fcus n vluntary wrk fr charity.
    2. Read “Learning t learn”, which helps students better get infrmatin frm listening.
    Step 4 While listening
    Activity 7
    Listen t the phne enquiry fr the first time and chse frm a t f t cmplete the sentences.

    Activity 8
    1. Play the tape again. Students shuld take ntes f the necessary infrmatin frm listening and fill in the frm n Page 19.
    2. After checking the answers, have students talk abut hw Sarah makes a phne enquiry n becming a vlunteer.

    1. Wrk in pairs. Think abut a vluntary wrk yu wuld like t be invlved in and make a cnversatin similar t a telephne enquiry.
    2. Then encurage students t act ut the telephne enquiry t the whle class .
    Step 6 Language appreciatin:
    1. He’s sensitive and rather, which smetimes makes him appear t be a little bkish.
