    Section A (3a-4c) 第2课时
    设计说明
    本课时主要学习有关哥伦比亚和瑞士两个国家的风俗的文章。教学时利用图片, 复习句型What be sb. supposed to do when sb. meet for the first time?, 接着通过讨论在哥伦比亚和瑞士对于就餐迟到这一问题导入课堂。通过速读、细读和读后表演等活动, 使学生理解课文内容。通过要求学生读Grammar Focus的句子, 总结出该单元的语法内容, 即: 三个句式结构。讲解后接着练习。通过练习, 学生掌握这三个句式结构的运用。最后, 通过当堂达标, 学生可自我检验自己的学习情况, 以便查漏补缺。
    教学目标
    通过本课时的学习, 让学生达成以下目标:
    1. 知识目标
    (1) 掌握本课时新单词及短语: relaxed, value, capital, noon, mad, effort, passport, chalk, blackboard, northern, coast, season, knock, eastern, worth, manner, drop by, after all, get mad, make an effort, clean…off, take off。
    (2) 掌握重点句子:
    ①…it’s important to be on time.
    ②You’re supposed to shake hands./You’re not supposed to shake hands.
    ③…you’re expected to wear a suit and tie.
    2. 能力目标
    (1) 能听懂关于风俗礼仪方面的语言材料。
    (2) 能运用所学知识谈论当地的风俗。
    (3) 能就风俗礼仪与他人进行交流。
    3. 情感目标
    通过对风俗礼仪的学习, 了解不同地方有不同的风俗礼仪, 形成尊重他人的风俗习惯和使用正确的礼仪与他人交流的意识。

    重点: (1)了解哥伦比亚和瑞士的习俗
    (2)正确运用be supposed to do; be expected to do; It is + 形容词+ to do sth.

    Step 1 Revision
    1. Show different customs in different countries by using pictures.
    T asks: Look at the pictures, what are they supposed to do when they meet for the first time?
    Students: They’re supposed to…

    T says: When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Different countries have different customs.
    2. Ask students to practice the conversations in pairs.
    A: What are they supposed to do when they meet for the first time in…?
    B: They’re supposed to …

    Step 2 Lead-in
    Ask: Is it polite to be late for dinner in our country?
    Get the class to answer it.
    Ask: How about in Colombia or in Switzerland?
    Get the class to discuss it.
    Step 3 Reading
    1. Fast reading
    Task 1
    Work on 3a.
    Get the class to read the following opinions of a Colombian and a Swiss student.
    Answer the questions:
    In which country is it OK to be 15 minutes late for dinner?

    Read the passage again and find out the new words.

    1. Where I’m from, we are pretty relaxed about time.

    (1) where此处引导地点状语从句。
    Where I live, there are many trees.

    (2) relaxed adj. 放松的,自在的(主语为人)
    be relaxed about… 对……感到放松
    Don’t be afraid, just be relaxed about the interview.
    不要害怕, 轻松面试。
    【拓展】relaxing adj. 令人放松的(用来说明事物特征)
    2. We often just drop by our friends’ homes if we have time.
    如果有时间, 我们经常顺便到朋友家里拜访。
    drop by 顺便拜访,后面常接表示地点的名词。

    3. In Switzerland, it’s very important to be on time.
    在瑞士, 守时是非常重要的。
    on time准时, 按时

    所以当我与朋友见面时, 我努力做到守时。

    Step 5 Grammar Focus
    1. Get the class to read the sentences in the form and summarize the drills.
    be supposed to do sth. 应该做某事
    be expected to do sth. 应该做某事, 被期望做某事
    It’s +形容词+to do sth. 做某事是……的。
    2. Explanation.
    (1) be supposed to do sth. 应该做某事
    be expected to do sth. 应该做某事, 被期望做某事
    用法: 表示根据规定或传统习惯人们应该做某事。
    注意: be动词随主语人称、数和时态的变化而变化; 不定式符号to后跟动词原形。
    句式变化: 否定句在be动词后加not; 一般疑问句是将be动词提至句首。
    We’re supposed/expected to arrive there at six.
    我们应该6点钟到那儿。
    We’re not supposed/expected to arrive there at six.
    我们不应该6点钟到那儿。
    Are we supposed/expected to arrive there at six?
    我们应该6点钟到那儿吗?
    (2) It’s +形容词+to do sth. 做某事是……的。
    it在句中作形式主语, 真正的主语是后面的动词不定式短语to do sth. 。
    It’s impolite to keep others waiting. 让别人一直等是不礼貌的。
    【拓展】①It’s +形容词+for sb. + to do sth. 意为“对某人来说, 做某事是……的”, 此时句中形容词为描述事物特征的词, 如important, difficult, possible, necessary等。
    It’s important for us to learn English well.
    对我们来说, 学好英语是很重要的。
    ②It’s +形容词+of sb. + to do sth. 意为“某人做某事是……的”,此时句中形容词为描述人物品质和性格特征的词, 如clever, nice, polite, kind等。
    It’s kind of you to help us.

    take off 意为“脱下”, 反义短语为put on(穿上) 。其为“动副”结构短语, 人称代词作其宾语时, 要位于take 与off之间。

    【拓展】take off还有“(飞机) 起飞”的意思。

    worth为形容词, 意为“值得, 有……价值(的) ”, 其后可跟名词或动词-ing形式。
