    Section A (1a-2d) 第1课时
    设计说明
    本课时通过给学生展示有关电影种类的图片, 让学生结对练习讨论自己喜欢的电影以及感受, 由此激发学生的学习兴趣。通过让学生看图选择餐馆, 让学生各抒己见, 学会比对、分析不同事物的优缺点, 最终做出合理的选择, 培养学生解决问题的能力。通过听力练习, 让学生学会听取关键信息, 掌握听力技巧。引导学生学习会话, 培养学生阅读与交际的能力。指导学生学习会话中出现的知识点, 加深对会话的理解。最后, 借助对应练习, 让学生能够熟练运用所学知识。
    教学目标
    通过本课时的教学, 让学生达成以下目标:
    1. 知识目标
    (1)掌握本课时新单词及短语: rather, drive, lately, friendship, would rather, drive sb. crazy/mad, the more…the more…, be friends with (sb.) , leave out。
    (2)掌握重点句子:
    ①Sad movies make me cry.
    ②I’d rather go to Blue Ocean because I like to listen to quiet music while I’m eating.
    ③Umm...it makes Alice unhappy because she thinks Julie is now better friends with me than with her.
    (3)掌握“make+sb. +形容词”的用法。
    2. 能力目标
    (1) 能听懂谈论事物对人的情绪产生影响的对话。
    (2) 能运用所学词汇和句型谈论不同事物对自己产生的影响。
    3. 情感目标
    能运用表达感情的词汇, 正确表达自己的感情, 学会分析不同事物的优缺点, 从而明确自己的选择。学会比较对自己有影响的事物, 正确处理实际问题, 远离不良情绪的影响, 以积极的姿态, 精神饱满地面对生活和学习。

    重点: 掌握重点单词、短语及句子
    难点: 能够谈论不同事物对自己产生的影响

    PPT课件; 1b, 2a, 2b, 2d的录音; 有关卡通片、纪录片、悲剧、喜剧、动作片的图片

    Step 1 Warm-up
    1. Show some kinds of movies.
    2. Ask them to work in pairs. Ask and answer.
    What kind of movies do you like?
    How do you feel like the movie?

    cartoon documentary

    Sample:
    S1: What kind of movies do you like?
    S2: I like action movies.
    S1: How do you feel like action movies?
    S2: They make me excited.
    Step 2 Presentation
    Look and talk.
    T: Now, my two friends Amy and Tina are going to have a dinner. There are two restaurants around their home. They don’t know which to choose. Can you help them? Look at the two restaurants in 1a. Talk about it with your partner.

    T: Which would you like to go to? Why?
    S1: I’d like to go to...because...makes…
    S2: …
    S3: …
    Step 3 Listening
    1. Listen and fill in the blanks in 1b. Then match the restaurants with the statements.
    Rockin’ Restaurant
    1. The ________ pictures make Amy ________.
    2. The ________ music makes Amy ________.
    Blue Ocean
    3. The ________ music makes Amy ________, but it makes Tina ________.
    Answers:
    1. awful, uncomfortable 2. loud, nervous 3. soft, relax, sleepy
    2. Listen again and complete the conversation.
    Tina: I’m hungry, Amy.
    Amy:  (1) . Why don’t we  (2) ?
    Tina: Yeah. Let’s go to Rockin’ Restaurant. I love their  (3) .
    Amy: Oh, Tina… I  (4)  Rockin’ Restaurant.
    Tina: Why? The food is great, isn’t it?
    Amy: The food’s fine. I just don’t like the  (5) . Those awful pictures on the walls  (6) , and the loud music  (7) .
    Tina: OK. So where do you want to go, Amy?

    Step 4 Role-play
    Role-play a conversation between Amy and Tina.
    Amy: I’d rather go to Blue Ocean because I like to listen to quiet music while I’m eating.
    Tina: But that music makes me sleepy. I want to have the hamburgers at Rockin’ Restaurant.
    【提示】 would rather do sth. 意为“宁愿做某事”, would rather常缩写为’d rather。否定形式为would rather not do sth.。
    Step 5 Listening
    1. Work on 2a. Listen and number the pictures [1-4] in the order you hear them.
    T: You will hear Tina and John talking about what Tina and Amy did last night. The four pictures show something that Tina did last night. Listen to the recording now.


    (1) Play the recording for the students. For the first time, students just listen.
    (2) Play the recording again, and then ask them to number the pictures when they listen.
    (3) Correct the answers with the class.
    (从左到右, 从上到下) 3-2-4-1
    2. Work on 2b. Listen again. Complete the statements.
    1. Waiting for Amy drove Tina _______.
    2. Amy didn’t want to ______ at Rockin’ Restaurant.
    3. Loud music makes John want to _______.
    4. The movie was so sad that it made Tina and Amy _______.
    5. Sad movies don’t make John cry. They just make him want to _______.
    Answers:
    1. crazy 2. stay 3. dance 4. cry 5. leave
    【提示】drive sb. crazy/mad使某人发疯/发狂
    Step 6 Role-play
    Go over the activities in 2a and 2b. Then try to role-play a conversation between Tina and John in pairs. Use the example to begin your conversation.
    John: Did you have fun with Amy last night?
    Tina: Well… yes and no. She was really late.
    Step 7 Conversation learning
    1. Listen to the conversation in 2d and answer the questions.
    (1) What’s Nancy’s problem?
    (2) What’s Bert’s suggestion to Nancy?
    Answers:
    (1) She thinks she makes Alice unhappy because she has been spending more time with Julie.
    (2) Ask Alice to join Nancy each time she does something with Julie.
    2. Read the conversation and then fill in the blanks.
    Nancy has a trouble recently. Julie is her friend and  (1)  she got to know Julie, the more she has realized that they  (2) . So they’ve been spending more time together lately. It makes Alice unhappy because she thinks she and Julie are best friends, but now Julie is  (3)  friends with Nancy  (4)  with her. So Nancy thinks she’s made Alice  (5) . Bert advises her to ask Alice
     (6)  each time she does something with Julie. That can make their friendship  (7) .
    Answers:

    3. Ask them to role-play the conversation.
    Step 8 Language points
    1. What happened? 发生了什么?
    happen 意为“发生”,不及物动词。常见的用法:
    (1)“sth.+ happen(s) +地点/时间”表示“某地/某时发生了某事”。
    What’s happening outside? 外面发生了什么事?
    (2)“sth.+happen(s) to+sb.”意为“某人出了某事(常指不好的事发生在某人身上) ”。
    A car accident happened to him yesterday. 昨天他发生了交通事故。
    【拓展】happen还有“碰巧”的意思。
    “sb. +happen+to do sth.”意为“某人碰巧做某事”。
    I happened to meet her in the street. 我碰巧在街上遇见她。
    2. The more I get to know Julie, the more I realize that we have a lot in common. 我对朱莉了解得越多, 越意识到我们有很多共同点。
    “the+比较级…, the +比较级…”意为“越……, 就越……”。
    The harder you work, the greater progress you will make.
    你越用功, 进步就越大。
    The busier you are, the happier you will be.
    你越忙, 就越快乐。
    3. Why don’t you ask Alice to join you each time you do something with Julie?每次你和朱莉在一起做事的时候, 你为什么不邀请艾丽斯加入呢?
    Why don’t +sb. + do sth. ?=Why not + do sth. ? 为何不……?
    用来提出建议或劝告。
    Why don’t you go with us?
    =Why not go with us?你为什么不和我们一起去呢?
    4. Then she won’t feel left out. 那样她就不会觉得自己被冷落了。
    feel left out 意为“觉得被遗忘/忽略/冷落”。
    No one speaks to him, he always feels left out.
    没人跟他讲话, 他总是觉得被人冷落。
    Step 9 Homework
    1. Role-play the conversation in 2d.
    2. Preview the article in 3a.
