    Teaching objectives:

    1.    Enable students to stimulate the students’ background knowledge and arouse their interest in the topic and enlarge their views.
    2.    Let the students understand the passage and get to know the features of exposition.
    3.    Guide the students to judge the writer’s attitude correctly and understand the relationship between human beings and nature critically.
    4.    Let the students know how to be in harmony with nature and arouse their study interest and learn the usage of some words.

    Evaluation objectives:

    1.    Ask the students to talk about the environmental problems Venice is facing to find out whether they can get the main information of the video by watching and listening.
    2.    Ask the students to describe the pictures and answer the relevant questions to find out whether they can get to know the influence the environment has on human beings’ life and get the topic sentences to find out whether they can know the features of exposition.
    3.    Ask the students to answer some questions related to the Longji Rice Terraces to find out whether they can understand the detailed information and retell the working principle of the Longji Rice Terraces to find out whether they can understand the harmony between people and nature.

    Teaching key and difficult points:

    1.    Lead the students to understand the problem faced by Venice.
    2.    Express the influence the environment has on human beings.
    3.    Lead the students to understand the writer’s purpose, the structure and the logic of the passage.
    4.    Get to know the features of exposition and retell the working principle of the Longji Rice Terraces.

    T:Hello!Boys and girls. As we all know, Venice is famous as a water city. Can you imagine the life of Venice people?Today, I ‘d like you to enjoy some pictures about Venice and share your first impressions of it in groups.
