①Whats the main idea of this passage?

②What is the passage mainly about?

③What does the passage mainly discuss?

④The writer means to tell us that .

⑤The main idea of the passage is that .

⑥The passage is mainly about .

⑦From the passage we can learn/conclude that .

⑧Whats the best title for the passage?

⑨What would be the best title for the passage?

⑩The best title for the passage is .

    有些段落,有明显的引出细节的信息词,常见的信息词有:for example,an example of,the most important example,first,second,next,then,last,finally,to begin with,also,besides that等。

①It can be inferred/concluded/seen from the passage that...

②Which of the following conclusions can be drawn according to the passage?

    ③The writer suggests that...

④The writer uses the example of...to show that...

    ⑤Whats the writers attitude toward...?

⑥Whats the writers purpose of writing the passage?

    ⑦From the passage,we know...

    ⑧The writer probably agrees that...

Have you ever seen a car without a driver? It sounds crazy, but these computer-driven driverless cars will soon be filling roads near you. Companies like Google and Tesla have been designing and testing these cars, and the technology is there.

So how? The cars have sensors(感应器)all around which can find other cars and objects in the road.Road signs are read by cameras, and satellite navigation systems(卫星导航系统)are used so the car knows how to get where you want to go. All you have to do is type in the address! Finally, a central computer system takes in all the information that it receives from the sensors and cameras and works out when to speed up, stop and turn.

Sound like your idea of heaven(天堂)? Sitting back, looking out of the windows and even watching a film or reading a book while “driving” would be possible with this new technology. You wouldnt have to worry about remembering directions to where youre going. In addition, computers would also drive more safely than people—they would obey the rules and have quicker action times when in dangerous situations.

However, there are many drawbacks of driverless cars. Computers would have difficulties making ethical(道德的)decisions: if a child ran into the road, would the computer choose to hit the child or turn suddenly and potentially kill the cars passengers? Moreover, I personally find driving fun—Id miss never driving a car myself. There would also be many other decisions to be made—should children, or drunk people, be allowed in a driverless car by themselves? Or would there need to be a person with a driving license in the car at all times?

Im not certain Id want a driverless car— but its only a matter of time before theyll become more affordable and popular on our roads.

1.When using a driverless car, you need only .

    A.read the road signs carefully

    B.check the cameras

C.put the address into the computer

    D.remember the directions

    A.instructions   B.standards

    C.advantages    D.tests

3.The underlined word “potentially” in Paragraph 4 means “ ”.

    A.possibly    B.successfully

    C.especially    D.naturally

4.Whats the writers opinion about future driverless cars?

    A.Theyll cause more accidents.

    B.Theyll be less expensive.

    C.Theyll use less energy.

    D.Theyll run much faster.

What is the difference between a fear(害怕)and a phobia? You might have a fear of dogs if you have ever been bitten by one. However, if you avoid walking down streets where you think there might be a dog, you may have a phobia, which is a strong unnatural fear. If the fear has started to change a persons life, he or she probably has a phobia. Different surveys say that between 10 and 80 percent of us have at least one phobia.

You can probably guess what some of the most“popular”phobias are. Flying may be the safest way to travel, but many people are scared of doing it. Fear of heights is also very common. For example, Spider-Man actor Tobey Maquire cant stand high places. However, Tobey is not afraid of spiders that most people are afraid of. Rupert Grint, who plays in the Harry Potter movies, is in fear of spiders.“In one scene of the movie, we come into the large spiders hole, and there we meet a spider that is the size of an elephant and really scary because he has these hairs. Im really scared of spiders,”he said.

.For example, cats are very cute for most of us, but not for such powerful people in history as Alexander the Great and Napolean Bonaparte. Actor Nicole Kidman says,“Im not scared of snakes or spiders, but Im scared of butterflies. Sometimes when I came home from school, the biggest butterfly you had ever seen would be just sitting on our front gate. I would climb over the fence, move slowly to the side of the house, or do anything to avoid having to go through the front gate.”Clowns(小丑)are not so funny for actor Johnny Depp, whose childhood memory of the“painted faces and fake smiles”still makes him scared. Some other weird(怪诞的)phobias, including chewing gum, old doors or windows and footsteps, also fear some famous persons, such as Orah Winfred, Billy Bob and Sigmund Fred.

1.Rupert Grint who acted in Harry Potter is scared of .

    A.dogs   B.snakes   C.spiders   D.butterflies

2.Which of the following behaviors can be a phobia for these persons?

A.Cathy dislikes keeping a pet cat at home.

B.Victor cannot sleep well before the exams.

C.Linda feels very tired climbing the mountains.

D.Doris shouts crazily whenever hearing footsteps at night.

3.Which of the following is the best for“ ”in Paragraph 3?

A.Some people have phobias that are more unusual

C.Doctors say that most phobias can be treated successfully

D.Common things are much easier to cause phobias

    4.We can infer(推断)from the passage that .

    A.people are born with phobias

B.phobias are common in our daily life

C.famous people are easier to get phobias

D.phobias do not influence peoples life at all

This is a tale of two friends — one is blind, the other has no arms. On their own, the two are “disabled”. But together, they are a powerful team that has changed part of their village in North China’s Hebei Province into a rich, green forest. Meet 53-year-old Jia Haixia and Jia Wenqi!

Their story began in 2000, when Haixia, who was already blind in his right eye, lost his left one after an illness. Wenqi lost his arms in an accident when he was just three. Neither could find a job, so the two decided to team up. They rented some poor land and began to plant trees. In return, the local officials paid them a small fee.

Haixia and Wenqi never imagined that they would end up creating an environmental paradise. Their forest now has over 10,000 trees, hundreds of birds and many other wild animals. In addition, it saves the village from river flooding during the rainy season.

When the friends work together, they focus on their strengths not their disabilities. Their day begins at 7 a.m. when the sightless Haixia carries Wenqi across the river to get to their worksite. Since they cannot afford to buy young trees to plant, the two use branches from existing trees. Haixia climbs to the tree-top and with Wenqi’s direction, selects the perfect branch. He then digs a hole and carefully plants it. Finally Wenqi waters the area.

Though hard-working, the men don’t make much money. But as Wenqi puts it, “We stand on our own feet, so the fruits of our work taste sweeter.”
