    Unit 4 Friends Forever-Understanding ideas教案

    Teaching objectives:

    1. Enable the students to try to be familiar with the topic “make friends online” and grasp the words,phrases and sentences related to the topic.And master more knowledge of English syntax and use the knowledge in context.
    2. Guide the students to learn to form correct values and moral feelings about making friends online and build positive self-confidence and self-improvement.
    3. Lead the students to try to understand the reading passage and get what the author is trying to express and develop the dialectical thinking ability and finally establish correct views on making friends on the Internet.
    4. Encourage the students to try to improve the reading skills,such as skimming and scanning and practice to access learning resources from different channels.

    Evaluation objectives:

    1. Ask the students to talk about what kind of friends they like and the ways they use to make friends to find out if they can use some relevant expressions correctly.
    2. Ask the students to get some detailed information from the passage to find out if they can search for information quickly.
    3. Ask the students to find out how to keep safe in chatting online to find out if they can form correct views on making friends on the Internet.

    Teaching key points:

    1. Lead the students to understand the passage through reading.
    2. Get to know the main idea of each paragraph.
    3. Students learn about the stylistic features of argumentation.

    Teaching difficult points:

    1. Help the students sort out the relevant details of making friends online.
    2. Students get to know and judge the phenomenon of making online friends in a proper way.

    1. honest, kind, helpful, loyal, selfless..
    2. Joining a club; using a social app, through other friends...
    3. It has both advantages and disadvantages.

    Students talk about the three questions.

    Students’ performance:

    Students’ answers to those questions are similar. Some students talk with each other warmly, while some students don’t know how to use some relevant expressions.

     

    To arouse the students’ curiosity about the topic.

    Fast reading

    1. What is the type of this passage?
    2. What is the main idea of each paragraph?
    3. What is the meaning of the title“CLICK FOR A FRIEND”

    Ask the students to read the passage quickly, find out the answers to the three questions and then check the answers with their partners in their groups.

    Ask some groups to show their answers.

    Suggested answers:

    1. Argumentation.
    2. Para.1:Technology has changed the way of making friends.

    Para.2:Today it’s easy to keep in touch with friends.

    Para.3:Today it’s easy to find friends who share our interests.

    Para.4-7:It’s difficult to judge whether online friendship is real or not.

    Para.8:We should take an unprejudiced attitude to online friendship.

    3.Is it possible to find a real friend online?

    Students read the passage quickly and then work in groups to check their answers.

    Students’ performance:

    Some students can get the answers quickly, while some students need more time. Their answers to those questions are similar.

    To practise students’ ability to analyze and summarize the reading text.

    Careful reading

    1. Why does author ask questions in paragraph 1?
    2. How does the digital age benefit us?
    3. How can we judge if online friendship is real?
    4. What does the sentence“this doesn’t mean that we should throw the baby out with the bathwater”mean?
    1. Ask the students to read the passage carefully and find out the answers to the questions and then check the answers with their partners in their groups.
    2. Ask some groups to show their answers.
    3. Ask the students to translate the important sentences and the teacher gives instruction.

    Suggested answers:

    1. The author asks two questions to introduce the topic.
    2. We can move around the world and still stay in touch with the people that we want to remain friends with.Social media tools let us see what our friends are up to and maintain friendships. The digital age also enables us to find people who share our interests.
    3. The real friends online always exchange true personal information online..
    4. We shouldn’t throw anything valuable away with something unwanted.

    Students work in groups and talk about their answers with their partners in their groups.

    Students’ performance:

    Students talk with each other warmly. Some groups have different answers. The answers of some groups are not complete. Students meet problems when analyzing the sentences.

    How to keep safe in chatting online?

    1. Instruct the students to form into groups of four or six.
    2. Give students a clue:refer to the details of making friends online mentioned in the passage.
    3. Direct them to talk effectively.
    4. Ask some groups to show their opinions.

    Suggested answers:

    Keep our personal information such as the name, address, telephone number and pictures secret.

    Students work in groups and show their own opinions according to their own experiences.

    Students’ performance:

    1. Students involve themselves in the group work.They analyze the advantages and disadvantages of making friends online, and are able to perform in front of the class.
    2. Some groups perform well and receive warm applause.
    1. To help the students consolidate what they have learnt in this class.
    2. Students learn how to give their opinions on making friends online.
