Trying to find the perfect present is about as easy as trying to read someone’s mind. Few people will actually tell you what they want for a special occasion. So what to do? Here are some tips that could help.
Start Early
Be honest-do you wait until the last minute to start looking for presents? While you are definitely not alone in this ritual, it is something you might want to try to change. Starting your shopping early can have a number of advantages, particularly when stocking up for holidays such as Christmas. If you plan in advance rather than last minute you can go shopping online which increases your gift buying possibilities as you’ll have time to factor in the delivery of the gift.
Make a List, Check It Twice
Now is the time to put your thinking cap on as you make a list. If you are lucky, you should be able to find a few good ideas in one of these lists. However, what if this list isn’t as helpful as you might have hoped? In this instance, write down different personality traits of the person you are shopping for. Then try to determine how to use this information to find a gift that is perfectly suited to them.
Think Outside the Box
If you are still coming up empty, it is time to get creative. Often, the reason you get stuck for gift ideas is because you are restricting yourself too much. An example of being creative is to think about what your friend’s office looks like. This can give you lots of ideas to give him a gift for his workspace. In the end, it’s about finding something he can use every day, something he can really appreciate.
Gift an Experience
If a regular old present isn’t doing the trick, it may be time to think a little bigger. Instead of a physical gift, you can give someone an experience that they will never forget. You may be wondering what an “experience” means exactly. Well, it can be anything that will interest the recipient. If they are an adventurer, a local or foreign trip will be excellent. On the other hand, if they are a sports enthusiast, you can buy them tickets to a significant game.
36.What does the underlined sentence in paragraph 2 mean?
A.Many people make a plan in advance.

39.According to the last paragraph, which can be the best gift idea for a photographer?
A.Dining in a Michelin-starred restaurant.

Everything changed on June 23, 2012 when Kirstie Ennis was in a helicopter crash that finally led to an above-the-knee leg amputation(截肢). Recovering from the crash nearly destroyed her, but she refused to let her injuries hold her back.
To prove to herself just how unlimited her possibilities are, Ennis set a goal: become the first veteran(老兵) amputee to complete the Seven Summit — the highest mountain on each of the seven continents.
But Ennis’ climbing journey isn’t just about the mountains. On each climb, she raises money in support of a different nonprofit.
"I realized that it was a pretty unique platform…whether it’s the younger generation, men, women or wounded veterans, they can look to me in a different way,” Ennis told Connecting Vets. “It’s just the highlight of everything I always wanted to do.”
Ennis has climbed up five of the seven mountains. She’s been on Everest for more than a month, adapting to the altitude and planning routes, and her team plans to summit(登顶) on May 15, 2019. It’s a climb she has been preparing for three years, including a trip in 2017.
"Everest is the most important part of everything I have trained for," Ennis told Pensacola News Journal. "Every mountain teaches me something different. Now I have to use all of those skill sets to be able to deal with Everest. Should I summit, history will be made as the first woman above knee amputee to do so. Each individual, especially those with disabilities, should be able to determine what they’re able to do.”
Ennis shares detailed updates on her blog, and will post again after the summit attempt.
41.Why did Ennis decide to conquer the Seven Summits?
A.To inspire others. B.To challenge herself.
C.To show her strong will. D.To make her life colorful.

Most people aren’t good at creative problem solving for two reasons: (1) They are not trained in how to be creative. (2) They don’t understand group strength well enough to harness(驾驭)their power to maximize group creativity.
A key element of creativity is applying existing knowledge to a new problem. The more people getting involved in solving it, the more knowledge there is to work on it. Unfortunately, research shows that the traditional brainstorming methods fail to achieve that goal. When groups get together to exchange ideas, they actually come up with fewer ideas overall than if they each had worked alone.
To fix this problem, you should consider the two stages of group problem-solving: divergence(分散)and convergence(集中). Divergence happens when the group considers as many different potential solutions as possible. Convergence happens when the various proposed solutions are evaluated and reduced to a smaller set of candidate solutions to the current problem.
The essential principle of group creativity is that individuals working alone diverge, whereas group members working together converge. In groups, once a member states a potential solution, that makes others think about the problem similarly. That is why groups working together diverge less than individuals working alone.
Therefore, be aware of when to diverge and when to converge. For example, early in the problem-solving process, have group members work alone to write down statements describing the problem. Then get them back to discuss their descriptions. The group discussion will lead everyone to accept one or a small number of these statements to work on—this is healthy convergence.
When starting to generate solutions, you again want divergence. Have people work alone to start. Then collect people’s initial ideas and send them around to others and allow the divergence to continue as everyone individually builds on the ideas of other members.
Finally, let the group discuss the resulting ideas. This discussion will gradually lead the group to converge on a small number of candidate solutions.
This simple method works effectively, because it respects what individuals and groups do best.
46.Research shows that the traditional brainstorming methods ______.
A.actually limit group creativity
B.greatly encourage group creativity
C.enable people to form more ideas together
D.prevent people’s involvement in the problems
47.According to Para. 4, when a member presents an idea, others tend to_____.
A.think the other way round B.follow his way of thinking
C.be more confident in their own ideas D.be less willing to share their own ideas
48.What should group members first do early in the problem-solving process?
A.Discuss the problem. B.Simplify the problem.
C.Put down group statements together. D.Write down their individual descriptions.
49.How can each group member make changes to his initial solution?
A.By adding in collected evidence. B.By reorganizing his own words.
C.By drawing on others’ ideas. D.By making his statement briefer.
50.What is the author’s purpose in writing the passage?
A.To advocate a way to make group thinking more effective.
B.To demonstrate the difficulty in organizing group thinking.
C.To highlight the differences between divergence and convergence.
D.To show the advantage of group thinking over individual thinking.

Blind imitation (模仿) is self-destruction. To those who do not recognize their unique worth, imitation appears attractive; to those who know their strength, imitation is unacceptable.
In the early stages of skill or character development, imitation is helpful. When I first learned to cook, I used recipes (菜谱) and turned out some tasty dishes. But soon I grew bored. Why follow someone else’s way of cooking when I could create my own? Imitating role models is like using training wheels on a child’s bicycle; they help you get going, but once you find your own balance, you fly faster and farther without relying on them.
In daily life, imitation can hurt us if we subconsciously (下意识地) hold poor role models. If, as a child, you observed people whose lives were bad, you may have accepted their fear and pain as normal and gone on to follow what they did. If you do not make strong choices for yourself, you will get the results of the weak choices of others. In the field of entertainment, our culture glorifies celebrities. Those stars look great on screen. But when they step off screen, their personal lives may be disastrous. If you are going to follow someone, focus on their talent, not their bad character or unacceptable behaviors.
Blessed is the person willing to act on their sudden desire to create something unique. Think of the movies, books, teachers, and friends that have affected you most deeply. They touched you because their creations were motivated by inspiration not desperation. The world is changed not by those who do what has been done before them, but by those who do what has been done inside them. Creative people have an endless resource of ideas. The problem a creator faces is not running out of material; it is what to do with the material knocking at the door of imagination.
Study you role models, accept the gifts they have given, and leave behind what does not server you. Then you can say, “I stand on the shoulders of my ancestors’ tragedies and declare victory, and know that they are cheering on.”
51.Imitation proves useful when you .
A.know you are unique B.lose the balance of life
C.begin to learn something new D.get tired of routine practice
52.To avoid the bad result of imitation, we should .
A.forget daily fear and pain B.choose the right example
C.ask others for decisions D.stay away from stars
53.According to the author, the world moves on because of those who are .
A.desperate to influence others with their knowledge
B.ready to turn their original ideas into reality
C.eager to discover what their ancestors did
D.willing to accept others' ideas
54.The trouble a creator faces is .
A.the lack of strong motivation B.the absence of practical ideas
C.how to search for more materials D.how to use imagination creatively
55.What is the author's purpose in writing this passage?
A.To highlight the importance of creatively.
B.To criticize the characters of role models.
C.To compare imitation with creation.
D.To explain the meaning of success.

The popularity of Chinese-owned video sharing service Tik Tok continues to grow among young people in the United States. As the Tik Tok app offers a wide choice of sounds, brief parts of songs and special effect tools to help create a video, it is especially popular with teens and young adults.
Tik Tok is considered a competitor to the video-sharing app Snapchat, as well as Facebook’s Instagram service. Snapchat and Instagram also mainly interest young users with a wide mix of photos and videos centered largely on fashion, pop culture and humor. Last year, Tik Tok was the second-most downloaded app from Apple and Google stores. WhatsApp was downloaded the most. Research company Sensor Tower says people have downloaded the Tik Tok app 1.65 billion times.
Tik Tok has been used by many major companies to reach young people who use little or no traditional media. Companies appearing on Tik Tok can make money through advertising. Often, the companies create user “challenges” as part of their advertisement campaigns. In challenges, users are invited to publish their own videos in which they perform similar dance moves.
U. S. lawmakers have raised concerns about Tik Tok. They thought it is collecting and sharing users’ data. Tik Tok has said it doesn’t share information with others. Some groups and parents also have expressed concerns about videos. They thought the videos appearing on Tik Tok might be harmful to young users. A nonprofit privacy group notes on its website that many videos appearing on Tik Tok include offensive language. So the group suggests that the service is best for those over age sixteen.
Tik Tok’s head of creator partnerships, Kudzi Chikumbu, said the company is working hard to make sure the app is a “safe and positive environment”.
