How are you? I’m really glad that you are interested in China’s Spring Festival. Now I’d like to introduce it to you.

The Spring Festival is one of the most important festivals in China. It usually comes in January or February. To get ready for the festival, people clean and decorate their homes and put up couplets. During the festival people set off firecrackers for good luck, watch the Spring Festival Gala on TV and get together for a big dinner. Everyone wears their new clothes and visits their parents and relatives. Children also get red envelopes filled with “lucky money”.

In recent years, however, there have been some new ways of celebrating the festival. To avoid causing noise and air pollution, people in most cities set off electronic firecrackers instead of traditional ones. What’s more, more and more people choose to travel during the festival.

The Chinese government recently plans to change the one-child policy into two-child policy, meaning that every family in China is allowed to have two children.
