　　It’s school time again! You’re probably feeling excited and maybe a little sad because the vacation is over. Some kids feel nervous or a little scared on the first day of school because of all the new things:  new teachers,  new friends,  and maybe even a new school. Luckily,  these “new” worries only stick around for a little while. Let’s find out more about going back to school.

　　Most teachers start the school year by introducing themselves and talking about what you’ll be doing that year. Some teachers give students a chance to tell something about themselves to the rest of the class.

When teachers do the talking on the first day,  they often go over classroom rules so you’ll know what’s allowed and what’s not. Pay close attention so you’ll know if you need to raise your hand to ask a question and what the rules are about visiting the restroom.

　　You might have already known a lot of people in your class on the first day. But it’s a great day to make new friends,  so try to say “hello” to the kids you know and new ones that you don’t. Make the first move and you’ll be glad about what you did and so will your new friends! 

　　Most teachers let you pick your own seat on the first day,  but by the second or third morning,  they’ll have mapped out a seating plan. It’s a good idea to write down where your seat is in your notebook so you don’t forget.

　　Here are a few final tips for a fantastic (奇异的) first day:  Get enough sleep. Have a healthy breakfast. Try your best. Develop good work habits,  like writing down your assignments (作业) and handing in your homework on time. Take your time with schoolwork. If you don’t understand something,  ask the teacher.

　　Do you still remember what happened when you went to school on the first day? I still remember my interesting first day of school. On that day,  I hurried to my science class in the morning and found a seat in the back. I waited there for 15 minutes before the bell rang. The science teacher told us about some class rules. No one talked to me and nor did I talk to anyone else. I was one of those very shy girls. After the science class,  I had an English class. I thought it would be boring but it turned out to be very funny. When the classes of the morning ended I went to lunch. I sat outside the dining room with no one to talk to and no food because I was too nervous to join the lunch line. I kept looking around hoping to see someone I knew but I never saw anyone.

Lunch ended and I went to have my art class. I was the first one there and even my teacher was not there yet. So I sat at my desk and started drawing some pictures. I didn’t notice the rest of the class walking in or the girl that was standing behind me till I was surprised by the voice,  “So what are you drawing?” It was a girl who had really long hair. She ended up being my best friend and one of the kindest and liveliest girls I know.

In the next class meeting,  the teacher asked us to talk about the past holiday. I was glad to make some new friends in the class. The first day of high school was hard for me but I got through it.

How to Love Your Parents?

    Even if you think that your parents are mean-spirited at times,  loving your parents is a normal and fulfilling part of life. You love them for the fact that they created you,  raised you,  and are in part,  a source of who you are. 1.

Tell them you love them every morning. A gentle“good morning” and “I love you” will warm a coldest heart.

Remember that they brought you into this world. Without your parents,  you might still wander at an unknown corner in an unknown world.

Respect them more and cherish these moments. You can use these moments to learn from them,  preparing yourself for when you’re off on your own. It’s OK to get angry but angry actions don’t help you or your parents. Act calmly,  cool off,  write down your feelings,  or talk to a friend. 2. ______ 

Obey their requests. It will make your attitude better and earn you more respect from them. It may seem like you are going through hell when you don’t get what you want or you have to clean. However,  you had better remember they keep a roof over your head when it’s cold,  raining,  snowing,  or too hot. Understand that parents are human beings and make mistakes.
