    Sme f the lessns that I learned frm my parents are the nes that I can trace back t my grandparents. These lessns are simple. I have tried t use them in raising my wn children regardless f the times and mdern ideas. These are sme psitive nes.


    One f the lessns is imprtant t me and it is telling the truth. I feel the nly white lie is ne trying t keep a surprise frm smene like a birthday party r a gift. Once yu tell a lie, mre lies are always needed t keep it ging. One example is abut my twelve­year­ld daughter trying t hide the fact that she had drunk when visiting a friend's huse.     My mther is an enthusiastic user f the Internet, althugh it tk me years t get her t use e­mail. She was brn with nrmal hearing, but lst it when she was 3. She was ttally deaf fr many years, until age 53, when she gt ear aids. They wrk really well. That is a big change fr her. But befre then, her friends culdn't call her n the phne, s they suggested she use e­mail t cmmunicate with them.


    Yung peple dn't even think f the Internet as technlgy. It's just there, and they use it. There's been a very interesting change in cmmunicatin styles between ld peple and yung peple. There are sme kids wh are nw in their teens and aren't willing t make phne calls. And they think e­mail is ld­fashined and slw.


    The reasn why teens dn't make phne calls seems t be that they dn't knw what t say. When they call, they ften stp fr a while and there's a silence. On the ther hand, texting is cnsidered prper, and it's kay if yu dn't answer. Yu_might_have_been_distracted. It's nt rude.
