Actions for a Greener Earth
A week before Earth Day, posters were put up around our school, calling upon us to join in the actions for a greener earth.
Our class came up with the idea to make better use of used materials. We brought to our classroom wornout clothes, pieces of cardboard and empty plastic bottles, and turned those into dolls, handbags, tissue boxes and small vases. That weekend, we went to a nearby neighborhood and gave them away to the people there. All were very happy with those unexpected gifts, especially little kids and elderly people. 1．命题形式
(半)开放式作文属于非限制性作文，要求考生根据所给的简短提示，展开联想，自由发挥。由于(半)开放性作文限制较少，能够更好地考查考生表达观点、运用所学知识解决实际问题等英语语言的综合运用能力，也更能体现考生的想象力和创造力。(半)开放性作文根据命题形式可以分为：
(1)命题式
即给出作文题目，要求考生根据对作文题目的分析和理解进行自由发挥。命题式开放性作文不受内容方面的限制，考生可根据自己对题目的理解进行写作，但文章要围绕作文标题展开，不能过度发挥。
(2)感悟类
近年来，英语高考作文命题的角度从考生日常的生活、学习逐渐转变到思想层面。这类试题一般是给出一句英文格言、警句或一个事例或现象，要求考生结合自己的亲身经历来表达自己的感悟和观点，这里注意要树立正确的世界观、人生观和价值观，内容要积极向上。
2．写作要求
由于(半)开放式作文提示要点较少，供考生发挥的空间很大。因此，建议考生在写作时从以下几个方面入手：
(1)虚拟读者，有的放矢
首先，虚拟读者对象，找准文章的立意；然后，列出要点，写出提纲，变抽象为具体。
(2)联系生活，揣摩语境
对于(半)开放性作文，考生需要结合自身经历展开联想，表达自己的看法，或给人们提出劝勉、警示、建议等。
(3)确立主题，详略得当
在写作时要注意以下几点：一是审题，包括题目的内容、命题人的目的或意图、写作时需要注意文章的体裁、人称和时态等；二是确定文章的主题和结构；三是列出要点和提纲，即哪些东西详写，哪些东西略写，做到心中有数；最后，根据构思，紧扣主题，快速成文。

Last Saturday my classmates and I did some meaningful work as we went to buy books.

Despite the improvement of our lives, “hardship education” in China still gains widespread recognition, yet it arouses different voices among the public as well according to a recent survey.
As is known, hardship education refers to all kinds of activities including community service, social practice, voluntary work and various sports, which allow teenagers to experience the difficulties of life and society, thus contributing to their growth.
From my perspective, with the fast－paced development of our living standards, hardship education has become more of a must for the contemporary youth. For one thing, challenging activities in various forms guarantee teenagers access to building up their strength and developing necessary surviving skills. For another, but for hardship education, teenagers could not enhance their overall qualities such as courage and perseverance, sweeping away all the obstacles on the way to success and better preparing themselves for the future.

While I admit that hardship education is intended to cultivate desirable qualities such as selfsufficiency and perseverance in students, the education process doesn't necessarily involve shortterm physical ‘hardship’ for students to undergo. Firstly, hardship education such as experiencing life in poor areas usually lasts no longer than 2 weeks, which is too short to bear any fruit. Secondly, teenagers are well aware of the fact that the hardship they are exposed to is divorced from the life they lead in reality. Hence, the training becomes no more than a ceremony and teenagers return to their routine unchanged. Thirdly, the word ‘hardship’ doesn't look fancy enough to appeal to teenagers. At this age, they are more willing to explore the world, to exhibit their uniqueness and to unleash their creativity, thus activities like sports or selforganized trips competition will be their cup of tea.
By and large, hardship education is a means to an end, and the means should be more diverse to suit the teenagers' needs.
