Teaching Aims Ask students to talk about their dreams. Important Points Enable the student to use the following patterns to express themselves. I love ____ I dreamed of ___. I want to ____ Difficult Points How to celebrate oneself? Teaching Preparation. Flashcards. Teaching Aids Multimedia, flashcards. Type of lesson New lesson. Teaching Procedure Ⅰ.Talk about the following questions: 1.Do you have any dreams or interests? What are they? 2.What would you like to do but feel afraid to try? Ⅱ.Listen to the material with the following questions: When does Cathy love singing? When was her dream? Is her family poor or rich? How did she teach herself to sing? Who encouraged her to take part in the show? What did the students think of her talent show? Ⅲ.Read the text silently and check the answers. Then read the text loudly in class. The teacher walks around and finds the mistakes to correct. Ⅳ.Help the students to retell the story but not word for word. Ⅴ.Listen to the material again and repeat after it until they can read it correctly and fluently. Ⅵ.Come to language notes and show the following points. 1.I dreamed of being an opera singer.我渴望成为一名歌剧演唱家. dream作不及物动词. (1)表示“渴望、向往、考虑”,后面接of短语. 例如: I dream of becoming a teacher.我一心想当个教师. (2)表示“梦见”,后面接about. 例如: I sometimes dream about my parents.我有时梦见我的父母. (3)表示“做梦”.例如: Do you often dream at night? 你在夜里经常做梦吗? dream作及物动词. 表示“梦见”,后面接名词或代词. 例如: I dreamed the beautiful sea.我梦见过美丽的海. I dreamt you last night.昨天晚上我梦见你了 dream作名词,表示“梦”,做主语或宾语. 例如: He said he had a bad dream.他说他做了一个噩梦. 表示“愿望、心愿”. 例如: Your dream has come true.你的愿望变成了现实. 2.I taught myself by listening to the radio and watching TV programs. 我通过听收音机和看电视节目自学. Teach教;教导,训练;教授. 第三人称单数: teaches过去式:taught过去分词: taught. Teach oneself = learn by oneself自学. 例如: I teach myself cooking=I learn cooking by myself我自学烹饪. Teach sb. sth. 意为“教某人某事”. 例如:Mr. Wang teaches us English.王老师教我们英语. Teach sb.to do sth.意为“教某人做某事”. 例如: We should teach the children to know well from bad. 我们应教育儿童分辨是非. 3.Some students wanted to tell jokes, and others wanted to dance. 一些学生想讲笑话,其他的想跳舞. others= other+名词复数,表示全体中除去一部分后其余部分的人或事物. 例如: There are many people in the park. Some are swimming, others are singing. 公园里有许多人.一些在游泳.其他的在唱歌. 拓展: The others=the other+复数名词,表示全体中除去一部分后其余所有的人或事物. 例如: 20 students in our class are English and the others are Chinese. 在我们班,20个是英国人,其他的全是中国人. Another+单数名词,泛指三个以上不定数目的人或事物中的另一个. The shoes don't fit me. Would you please show me another pair? 这双鞋不适合我.请你给我看看另一双吧? The other+单数名词,表示两者中的另一个人或事物. 例如: I have two pens. One is red and the other is black. 我有两只钢笔,一只是红色的,另一只是黑色的. Joke n.笑话,玩笑;笑柄,笑料. 常见短语. Tell jokes讲笑话play a joke on sb.和某人开玩笑 例如: He likes to play jokes on me.他喜欢喝我开玩笑. 4.I wanted to sing, but I wasn't confident.我想唱歌,但是我没有信心. 句中confident是形容词,意思是“自信的,有信心的,有把握的”,常用作定语或表语,常与介词of连用. He has a confident smile on his face.他面带自信的微笑. Be confident in oneself意为“自信”,相当于have confidence in oneself. You are too shy, you should be confident in yourself. 你太腼腆了,你应该有信心. 5.My teacher encouraged me to take part in the show. 我的老师鼓励我参加表演. Encourage 动词,意为“鼓励,鼓舞;支持”. Encourage sb.to do sth.鼓励某人做某事. 例如: She encouraged him to try again.她鼓励他再试一次. Encourage sb.in sth.在…方面鼓励(某人). 例如:His parents encourage him in his studies. 他父母鼓励他在学习上用功. Tak e part in 意为“参加,参与”(某事物或某个活动)= join in. 例如:Switzerland didn't take part in this war.瑞士没有参加这次战争. How many countries will take part in the World Cup? 有多少个国家要参加世界杯? 辨析: Join意为“参加(某组织),加入(某处任职),参加到某个人群中去,从而成为其中一员”. 例如: She joined a health club.她参加了一个健身俱乐部. We both joined the Labor Party.我们俩都加入了工党. 6.Your voice sounds beautiful.你的声音太动听了. Voice名词,意为“声音,嗓音”. 辨析: voice, noise与sound. Sound, noise和voice都可表示“声音”,但是,它们表示的“声音”并不相同. (1)voice一般指人的声音,说话、唱歌,谈笑都可用voice. sound和noise不仅能指人的声音,还可以表示别的动物发出的声音;而voice除了有时可指鸟的声音外,很少表示其它动物的声音. 例如: The girl has a beautiful voice.那女孩嗓音很美. They are talking in low voices.他们正小声交谈. (2)noise意为“噪音”、“喧闹声”,常指不悦耳、不和谐的嘈杂声.可作可数名词,也可做不可数名词. 例如: Don't make any noise! 别吵闹!The noise wakes me up.噪音吵醒了我! (3)sound作“声音”,“响声”讲时,可以指人或动物发出的声音,或物体碰撞的声言.这个词的使用范围很大.可以说,大自然的任何“声音”都可以用sound. 例如: At midnight he heard a strange sound.半夜里他听到一种奇怪的声音. Light travels much faster than sound.光的传播速度比声音快得多. 7.Finally, it was my turn.最后,轮到我了. Turn名词,意为“顺序,轮流”. It is (was) one's turn.该某人了,轮到某人了. 常见短语: It's one's turn to do sth.轮到某人做某事 例如:It is your turn to buy ticket.轮到你买票了. Take one's turn to do sth. = Do sth. in turn =Do sth. by turns轮流做某事. 例如: The nurses looked after the patient in turn/ by turns. =The nurses took turns to attend the patient.护士门轮流照看病人. Step 7.Come to “Let's do it “ Step8.1.Finish off the activity book. 2.Go on the next reading in the student book.
