Teaching Procedure Ⅰ．Talk about the subject in this unit: celebrating me. In this unit we will find one's talents. Why are we different from others? Li Ming will give a report to the class to show his talents to the others. Ⅱ．Come to “THINK ABOUT IT”. Let the students answer the questions: What do you think of yourself? How are you unique? Are you proud of yourself? Why or why not? Talk with the partners for a while. Then let some students come to the front and share their ideas with the others. Ⅲ．Listen to the material. Can the students retell Li Ming's trouble in a third person? Let them try. Ⅳ．Have a further discussion about Li Ming's trouble. Ask the students: Can you help him? What's your advice? Do you have the same trouble like him? Ⅴ．Show the language points. 1．Are you proud of yourself? 你为自己感到自豪? be proud of意为“为…感到骄傲／自豪”,其同义词组为take pride in, pride是proud的名词,意为“骄傲;自豪”. The young mother was proud of her son. =The young mother took pride in her son.这个年轻的妈妈为她的儿子而骄傲. 辨析: be proud of与be proud about. 两个词组后都可以接名词、代词或动名词,区别如下: （1）be proud of意为“为…感到自豪”,常用于褒义. We are proud of our motherland.我们为我们的祖国而感到自豪. （2）be proud about含有“自觉了不起、盛气凌人''的意味,常用于贬义. We've nothing to be proud about.我们没有什么值得骄傲的. 2．What makes you unique? 什么使你独一无二? unique是形容词,意为“独特的;独一无二的”. 例句: This is a unique feature of Chinese people.这是中国人独有的特点. The Great Wall is unique in the world.长城在世界上是独一无二的. make用作使役动词表示“使;使成为”, “make＋宾语＋adj.”意为“使某人/ 某事(变得)…” 例句: The news made us very happy. 这个消息使我们大家非常高兴. 拓展: make是初中英语中出现频率很高的一个动词.让我们看看它的其它用法: （1）“make＋宾语＋do sth.(不带to的不定式)”意为“使某人做某事”. 例句: Our teacher makes us feel more confident. 老师使得我们感到更自信了. （2）“make＋宾语＋n.”意为“使、让某人/某物(成为)…”. 例句: We made him our monitor.我们选他当班长. 当make的意思是“做、制造、制作”时,常用的句型是:… （3）make sth. (to do sth.)意为“制造某物”. 例句:She can make kites.她会制作风筝. （4）make sb. sth. / make sth. for sb.意为“为某人制作某物”. 例句: His mother made him a beautiful coat. / His mother made a beautiful coat for him.他的母亲为他缝制了一件漂亮的外衣. 3．Li Ming and Jenny are chatting online.李明和詹妮正在网上聊天. chat with sb.与某人聊天. 注意chat-chatting-chatted 要双写t呀! 例句: I like to chat with my mum at my spare time. 在我的业余时间,我喜欢和妈妈聊天. 4．We are supposed to describe ourselves in a report. 我们正在写一份报告来描述自己. be supposed to认为必须,认为应该.可以和should换用. 例句: You are supposed to be quiet in the library. = You should be quiet in the library. 你应该在图书馆里保持安静. describe是动词,意为“描述;描写”. 例句: Can you describe the man you saw? 你能形容一下你见过的那名男子吗? I can't use the words to describe my joy.我无法用言语来表达我的喜悦. 常见词组: Describe…as…把…说成…/把…称作… 例句: He described her as tall and dark, with glasses. 他把她描述为高个子,黑皮肤,戴着眼镜. 5．You can also write about your special talents and personal strengths.你也可以写出一些关于你的特殊的才能和个人的长处. write about 意为“写(关于)…”. 例句: The woman wrote a story about herself.这位妇女写了一个关于她自己的故事. 拓展:write down写下write back回信write out写出来. talent在句中作名词,意为“才能;才干;特殊能力”. a talent for language语言才能a man of talent有才能的人. 辨析: genius, gift与talent. （1）genius意为“天才”,表示最全面、最富有创造性的才能. 例句:He was a man of genius.他是一个天才. （2）gift着重“天赋”,意思是某一方面的特殊才能,有时可用复数. 例句: Kate has a gift for telling stories.凯特有讲故事的天赋. （3）talent较着重“才能”,一般不用复数. You need talent and hard work to be a tennis player. 例句:要想成为一名网球运动员,你需要天赋和勤奋. 6．Yes, that makes sense.是的,那会有意义的. make sense有意义,有道理. 例句: This sentence doesn't make sense.这句子毫无意义. 7．－Thank you so much for your help.非常感谢你的帮助. －It's my pleasure. 不客气. Thank you for (doing) sth.＝Thanks for (doing) sth.为(做)某事而感谢. 例句: Thanks very much for helping us.非常感谢帮助我们. 辨析: 1．It's a pleasure/ A pleasure与You are welcome.等习语意义相同,用于当别人对你说Thank you.时,即“不用谢”. 例句: －Thank you for coming to see me.－谢谢你来看我. －It's a pleasure.－不用谢. 2．With pleasure与All right, No problem. I'd like to等习语意义相同.用于别人求你做某事,你很乐意去做的时候. 例句: —Could you post the letter for me?——你能否替我把这封信寄走? —With pleasure.——愿意效劳. —Would you please open the widow?——请你关上窗户好吗? —With pleasure.——愿意效劳. Ⅵ．Listen to the material again. Let's have a further discussion about the text. Ⅶ．Come to “LET'S DO IT”. Divide the class into several groups. Write a report to describe yourself and include some drawings or photographs. Choose a best one to read in front of the class. Let's enjoy together. Ⅷ．1．Finish off the activity book. 2．Go on the next reading in the student book. Summary: The teacher can suppose a situation the same as Li Ming. If you ask the students to describe themselves in their reports, what trouble will they meet? Let them write down their difficulties. Are they the same as Li Ming's? Please try.
