设计说明

让学生结合上节课所学，通过习题回顾上节课所学知识。另外，通过提出“是否会做蛋糕，做蛋糕用到哪些食材” 的问题导入新课，给出相关食材的图片和英文名称，呈现生词，为后面的学习扫清词汇障碍并提起学生学习的兴趣。通过听课文音频及跟读，让学生熟悉课文内容，了解大意。通过让学生读图，将制作程序和其对应的示范图片搭配，并将步骤补充完整，让他们学会抓住关键词句并锻炼他们的逻辑推理能力。让学生通过读课文找出难点并进行小组讨论，合作探究，提高独立解决问题的能力。最后，设置适量当堂检测的题目，检测学生对所学知识的实际掌握情况。

教学目标

通过本课节的教学，让学生达成以下目标：

1.知识目标

掌握本课节新词汇：ingredient, power, icing, thirdly, beat, stir;

能够正确运用pour…into…, add…to…;

进一步掌握特殊疑问句的提问和回答以及祈使句的用法。

能够读懂有关食品制作的文章；能够看懂食品烹饪的步骤方法。

Step 1 Revision

1. Ask the students to think about the dialogue they learned last class, and answer the following questions.

(1) Whose birthday will it be on Saturday?

(2) Who will come to the birthday party?

(3) Who will not come to the party?

(4) What are the children going to do at the party?

2. Ask a student to give his/her answers.

3. Check the answers.

Answers: (1) Ben’s.　(2) Kitty and Peter.　(3) Jill.　

(4) They are going to have a lot of delicious food and drink, and watch some cartoons, and have a barbecue.

Step 2 Warming up

1. Ask the students the question: Can you make a cake? What ingredients do we need to make a cake?

2. Let the students give their answers.

3. Present some pictures to help them.

Step 3 Presentation

Give the students some pictures to help to learn the meanings of some new words: ingredient, powder, icing, beat, add, stir.

Step 4 Look, read and match

Activity 1

1. Play the recording for students to listen and let them find out what ingredients Kitty and her mother need.

2. Pause for them to write down their answers.

3. Check the answers.

Answers:  

They need some eggs, some sugar, some butter, some flour, some chocolate powder and some milk.

4. Listen again and ask some students to read after the recording. 

Activity 2

1. Get the students to look at the pictures on page 77 carefully and then read the steps of baking a chocolate cake below the pictures.

2. Ask the students to match the pictures with the correct sentences.

3. Get the students to fill in the blanks with proper words and rearrange these sentences.

4. Check the answers.

Answers:

6 After that, make the icing. Mix together 50 grams of butter, 100 grams of icing sugar, some chocolate powder and some milk.

2 Secondly, beat two eggs and add them to the sugar and the butter.

3 Thirdly, put 200 grams of flour and some chocolate powder in the bowl. Stir the mixture.

1 Firstly, mix 100 grams of sugar and 100 grams of butter together in a bowl.

5 Then put the mixture in an oven and bake it for 20 minutes at 180℃.

4 Next, pour the mixture into a baking tray.

7 Finally, wait for the cake to cool. Put the icing on top of the cake.

5. Ask the students to read the steps of baking a chocolate cake in the right order together.

6. Let the students read the steps of baking a chocolate cake in the right order by themselves and find difficult language points.

Activity 3

1. Ask the students to discuss the difficult language points in groups.

2. Help them to explain the language points if necessary.

动词不定式短语To make a chocolate cake在句中作目的状语。动词不定式用作目的状语，一般放在谓语动词的后面，但为了使目的更突出，也可以放在句首。

He got up early to catch the early bus.他早起床，为了赶上早班公共汽车。

To pass the test, I practiced again and again.为了通过考试，我一次又一次地练习。

2. We have to go to the supermarket to buy these things. 我们得去超市买这些东西。

【辨析】have to与must

I must/have to go to school now.现在我必须上学了。

He had to give her money back.他不得不归还她的钱。

—Must I finish the report today?今天我必须完成报告吗?

—No, you don’t have to.不，你不必。

3. Secondly, beat two eggs and add them to the sugar and the butter.

第二，打散两个鸡蛋，把它们倒入糖和黄油中。

Beat the eggs and salt together.将鸡蛋和盐搅拌在一起。

4. Next, pour the mixture into a baking tray.接下来，把混合物倒入烤盘中。

5. Finally, wait for the cake to cool.最后，等蛋糕变凉。
