Unit 3 Is this your pencil?

1.Is this sb.’s... ? 这是谁的……吗？

是含有be动词的一般疑问句，用来询问物品所属，确认物主关系。

【辨析】Is this/that... ?的区别为：

【重点】在回答此句型时，常用it代替this/that以避免重复，并且肯定回答不能缩写。

这是英语中的一般疑问句(General Questions)。一般疑问句是可以用Yes或No回答的疑问句。

1.—Is this/that your pen? 这/那是你的钢笔吗？

—Yes,it is.是的，它是。(肯定回答)

—No,it isn’t.不，它不是。(否定回答)

2.—Are these/those your books?这些/那些是你的书吗？

—Yes, they are.是的，它们是。(肯定回答)

—No, they aren’t.不，它们不是。(否定回答)

一般疑问句的特点及注意事项：问句使用升调；this/that的问句用it回答，简略回答时，肯定回答的Yes, it is.不能缩写成Yes, it’s.；these/those的问句用they回答，简略回答时，肯定回答的Yes, they are.也不缩写成Yes, they’re。学科*网

肯否定回答：

名词性物主代词相当于名词，不能用于名词前。mine＝my＋名词。

his既是形容词性物主代词又是名词性物主代词。his(名词性物主代词)＝his(形容词性物主代词)＋名词。

4.excuse me对不起，劳驾，请原谅   

用于句子的开头，常用于询问或请求帮助或打断别人说话等场合。

5 What about...? ……怎么样？

【拓展】＂What about... ?＂相当于＂How about... ?＂，其中about为介词，后接名词、代词或动名词。

What about him? ＝How about him?他怎么样？

6 Thank you for...意为＂因……而感谢你＂，相当于Thanks for...。

for是介词，后接名词或动名词形式。

7 No, they’re Bob’s.

此处的Bob’s表示＂鲍勃的＂(=Bob’s pencils)。-’s加在一个名词的后面，表示名词所有格，意为＂……的＂。

my brother’s name我兄弟的名字

Jack’s father and John’s uncle 杰克的爸爸和约翰的舅舅。

【注意】（1）代词后面的’s形式是与此不同的，如：He’s＂他是＂(=He is)。

（2）Bob’s也可以是Bob is的缩写。

8 The blue pen is his.

his(他的)既可以是形容词性物主代词，又可以是名词性物主代词。因此，his的后面可以有一个名词，也可以没有名词。

The red pen is his. 红色的钢笔是他的。

It is his pen.它是他的钢笔。

9 How do you spell it? 你怎么拼写它？  

英语中常用代词代替已知的名词。本句中的it代替对话中提到的需要拼写的单词。How do you spell it? 用于询问或要求对方拼写单词。同义的表达方式还有：

Spell it,please.请把它拼写出来。

Can you spell it? 请你把它拼写出来好吗？(你会拼写它吗？)

Do you know how to spell it? 你知道它如何拼写吗？

10 ask...for...＂向某人索取某物＂, 请求；恳求（某人）某事

You can ask him for the dictionary.你可以找他要那本字典。

Don’t ask me for it.Go and ask your father.别找我要(它)。找你爸爸去。学&科网

My mother asks me to read English every day.我妈妈让我每天读英语。

11 some/sʌm/ adj. 一些；某些 pron.有些；有的

some用于肯定句中，any用于否定句和疑问句中。some也可用于希望对方给出肯定回答的疑问句中。

I have some apples.我有一些苹果。

Do you have any apples? 你有一些苹果吗？

Would you like some apples? 你想要一些苹果吗？

I don’t have any apples. 我没有一些苹果。

12 call sb. at...给某人打电话  

＂call＋某人＋at＋电话号码＂表示＂拨打……号码找某人＂，＂某人＂若是代词，要用代词的宾格形式。

Please call him at 659-3409. 请拨打659-3409找他。

【典例】Please call ________110 for help if you have any problems.

该句中的must的含义是＂必须，一定＂，属于情态动词。

15 Lost and Found

在西方国家，学生不小心在学校里丢了东西，通常会写一个Lost便条，上面写出丢失物品及联系方式。同样，拾到东西时也会写个Found便条。有些学校也会专门设立一个失物招领处，如Lost and Found(box箱子，office办公室，room房间，desk台，桌子……，便于大家找回丢失的物品。

—He is at the Lost and Found.他在失物招领处。

一、名词性物主代词

1. 名词性物主代词是物主代词的一种，相当于名词，不能用于名词前，可以直接作主语、宾语或表语等，有人称和数的不同。

2. 名词性物主代词的用法：

名词性物主代词相当于＂形容词性物主代词＋名词＂，因此具有名词的特征，在句子中可以作主语、表语和宾语等。

►That is yours. 那是你的。

►These are our books and theirs are over there. 这些是我们的书，他们的(书)在那边。

—Jeff, my dictionary isn’t here. Can I use ____________?

3. 形容词性物主代词和名词性物主代词间的区别

   形容词性物主代词后接名词。

   名词性物主代词后不接名词。

二、含be动词的疑问句

1. 一般疑问句

(1)含be动词的一般疑问句的结构为＂Be (Am, Is, Are)＋主语＋其他? ＂am, is或are的首字母要大写。注意：当把含有be动词的肯定句变为一般疑问句时，通常将I变为you，be动词也要相应地变为are；同样，肯定句中的形容词性物主代词my，变一般疑问句时要改为your。

I am a teacher.我是老师。→Are you a teacher? 你是老师吗？

This is my book.这是我的书。→Is this your book? 这是你的书吗？

(2)一般疑问句分别用Yes或No作肯定或否定回答。肯定回答：Yes, 主语＋be (am, is, are). 否定回答：No, 主语＋be (am, is, are)not.在简略的答语中，主语要由人称代词的主格充当。学科*网

—Is he Mike? 他是迈克吗？ —Yes, he is./No, he isn’t.是的，他是。/不，他不是。(答语中的he不能用Mike)。

【注意】Is this/that…? 结构的一般疑问句的答语要用Yes, it is.或No, it isn’t.。另外，Are these/those …? 结构的一般疑问句的答语要用Yes, they are.或No, they aren’t.。

—Is that your ruler? 那是你的尺子吗？—Yes, it is./No, it isn’t.是的，它是。/不，它不是。

—Are those his dictionaries? 那些是他的词典吗？—Yes, they are./No, they aren’t.是的，它们是。/不，它们不是。

2. 特殊疑问句

含be动词的特殊疑问句的常见结构为＂疑问词＋be＋主语＋其他?＂或＂疑问词＋be＋其他?＂在把一个陈述句变特殊疑问句时，先将句子变为一般疑问句，然后在一般疑问句前加上适当的疑问词(what, who, how, what color等)。

My pen is red. (对画线部分提问)→What color is your pen?特殊疑问句根据句意和实际情况作出回答，不用Yes或No。

—What’s that in English? 那用英语怎么说？—It’s a box.箱子。

在回答Is this/that...? 句型时，用it代替this/that。

以are开头的一般疑问句，答语为＂Yes, they are.＂或＂No, they aren’t.＂。

在回答Are these/those...?句型时，用they代替these/those。
