    ②Key sentences:

    My mother’s cleaning our house and sweeping away bad luck.

    There’s so much delicious food.

    It means lucky money.

    能力目标

    To read the passage describing the Spring Festival through reading materials.

    To learn some key words and useful expressions.

    情感目标

    ①Let students actively take part in class communicative activities and speak English boldly.

    ②Increase students' understanding of Chinese traditional festivals.

    教学重点

    ①To correctly use the present continuous tense.

        ②To use the knowledge learned to describe Christmas.

    教学难点

    Be able to distinguish the present continuous from the simple present tense.

    教学准备

    教师准备:tape recorder, courseware

    学生准备:textbook, exercise book

    教学过程

    1. Lead-in:

    ①Ask students to talk about the Spring Festival according to the pictures.

    ②Ask students to talk with their partners and make dialogues.

    1. Presentation

    Task 1 Learn the new words

    ①Ask the students to look at the pictures and talk about what’s happening.

    ②Teacher checks the answers.

    ③Organize the students to read the new words together.

    Task 2 Reading

    ①Play the tape and ask students to scan the passage.

    ②Ask students to skim the passage and match the paragraphs with the pictures in Activity 1.

    Guide the students to listen to the tape again.

    Ask students to complete the passage with the correct form of the words and expression from the box.

    ⑤Organize the students to read the passage with the recording.

    ⑥Organize the students to check the answers in the whole class.

    Task 3 Writing

    Ask students to look at the notes about Christmas in Britain and match the notes with the headings.

    Teacher checks the answers.

    Task 4 Language points

    ①Organize students to come to the blackboard and show out some difficult language points that they found.

    ②Teacher explains the language points and help the students to solve the difficult points.

    Task 5 Important sentences

    ①Teacher shows the important sentences.

    ②Ask the students to read through the sentences.
