    Ragtime is a fast and cmplex kind f music that was ppular arund the beginning f the twentieth century. Sctt Jplin is nw cnsidered t be the mst imprtant American ragtime cmpser and pian player. During his lifetime, Jplin nly enjyed a brief perid f prfessinal success in the early 1900s. Hwever, his wrk had an imprtant, lasting effect n audiences, as well as ther cmpsers.
    When ragtime first appeared in the late nineteenth century, it was cnsidered a lw frm f cheap entertainment, nt a serius musical mvement. Then in 1899, Jplin wrte a ragtime sng called Maple Leaf Rag. The sng shwed Jplin's creative blend (融合) f African-American rhythm (节奏) and mre established Eurpean-American musical styles.
