有时，序数词可以用缩写形式来表示。（1）需牢记： first — 1st secnd — 2nd third — 3rd （2）有规律：furth — 4th sixth — 6th twentieth — 20th （3）第几十几：阿拉伯数字+个位数字的缩写后尾 twenty-third — 23rd twenty-furth — 24th
（1）序数词表示顺序，前面必须加the，或者其他限定词： I gt the first prize in the cntest. He is the first ne t reach the schl.（2）日期的表达用序数词： 5月8日：the eighth f May / May the eighth 9月23日：the twenty-third f September / September the twenty-third（3）表示顺序、编号，一般置于名词前： 第二单元：the secnd unit 第20页：the twentieth page
（4）序数词用于分数的表达中：分母用序数词，分子大于一时，序数词用复数。 四分之三：three furths 三分之一：ne third（5）序数词用于最高级的表达中：the+序数词+最高级+名词单数 The Yellw River is the secnd lngest river in China.（6）区别：the+序数词+名词 a+序数词+名词 It was the secnd time fr me t visit the Great Wall. We have tried it fr three times. Must we try it a furth time?
（1）用作主语：The first is better than the secnd.（2）用作表语：She was the furth in the exam.（3）用作宾语：He likes the third.（4）用作定语：January is the first mnth f the year.（5）用作同位语：Li Ming, the first, here.
