Researchers selected patients fr the trial wh had recvered frm cmas(昏迷)with brain systems believed t be still well preserved,but nt functining as well as previusly.“In these patients,thse pathways are largely cmplete,but everything has been dwn-regulated(下降),”said Dr Jaimie Hendersn,a prfessr f neursurgery.“It's as if the lights had been darkened and there just wasn't enugh electricity t turn them back up."The researchers hped that precise electrical stimulatin f specific areas culd turn the“lights”back up,and created a virtual mdel f each participant's brain s they culd trial stimulatin at different lcatins ahead f surgery.
