(2022春·山东青岛·八年级校考期末)Online classes in space got lots of attention among Chinese students. The “classroom” in space station is about 400 kilometers away from the earth. The space classes make the young be proud of our country. As a special “teacher”, Wang Yaping is regarded as “the most beautiful astronaut”.
Wang Yaping was born in a small village in Shandong in 1980. She studied hard all those years. She was good at all subjects, especially sports. Luckily, in 1997, she was accepted by the Air Force, Changchun Flight Academy.
Wang’s space dream started in 2003, when China sent its first astronaut Yang Liwei into space. She told herself, “China now has a male astronaut. (2022春·北京西城·八年级统考期末)It was a sunny weekend. Laura and Amanda were sitting on the beach, ready to take part in the sand sculpture contest(沙滩雕塑比赛). The two sisters had been building sandcastles(沙堡)for years. They were really good at it. People often stopped to enjoy their work.
“I am confident about the sand sculpture contest. Let’s try to come up with a winning idea for today. We should make something really unusual this time. How about a big fish or something like that?” said Laura.
“I think we should make a sandcastle town, like we always do. Look, I collected all these shells(贝壳)for the walls of the sandcastle town,” Amanda said. She pointed at the shells of all sizes.
“Come on, let’s do something different,” Laura shouted. “Think big!”
“I don’t know,” Amanda said. “I think I will stick to(坚持)the sandcastle plan.” She held a lot of sand in her hands, trying to make it into a castle corner.
“I’ll just make my own, then.” Laura got angry so she walked a few meters away and then started to make her own sculpture.
At the end of the day, Laura gave up on her sculpture of a big fish attacking(攻击)a castle. It looked like a funny house with something silly on it. Laura wanted to make it better but she didn’t have time to improve it.
Amanda had made a small castle decorated(装饰)with a lot of shells. Around it, Amanda managed to build farmland out of the sand, but she didn’t finish as she had spent most of her time making little shell animals.

    (2022春·北京西城·八年级统考期末)
Have you ever thought about what astronauts eat when they’re in space? What would they eat if they had to travel all the way to Mars  (火星) ? A lot of the food astronauts eat is processed (加工过的) because it’s simple to eat and easy to take into space. However, some vitamins  (维生素)  can break down if the food is stored for a long time. People may have health problems if they eat processed food every day.
Growing fresh food in space might help astronauts stay healthy. It would also give them more food choices. Fresh vegetables grown on Earth have many nutrients (营养物质) that processed food do not have. However, we don’t know if vegetables grown in space are the same. Another worry is making sure that these vegetables don’t have the bacteria or fungi  (细菌或真菌) that could make people sick.
Luckily, we have a plant growth room called Veggie on ISS (the International Space Station). We used Veggie to find out if it’s possible to grow nutritious and safe food in space.
We used Veggie to grow red lettuce (红生菜) over three years. We compared these (ISS-grown) vegetables to those grown at the same time on Earth. They were grown under the same conditions as on the ISS. We did research on the leaves and roots of all the lettuce plants. And we did not find any differences in nutrients between ISS-grown lettuce and Earth-grown produce. This means that it is possible to grow nutritious and safe food on ISS and astronauts should be able to eat vegetables grown in Veggie without worrying about getting sick.
Even though our lettuce is safe to eat, we still need to work out two problems. Firstly, there are more bacteria and fungi on ISS-grown lettuce. The wet environment in Veggie is probably the reason. Secondly, there are some differences in nutrients between the vegetables we grew in different years. Plants can change with too much or too little water, but it is hard to water plants in zero gravity  (零重力) . Therefore, we need to make sure that growing environments are consistent in Veggie. Then astronauts can be confident about the nutrients in their food during their long stay in space.
18.The researchers grew red lettuce in Veggie to ______.
A.decide what kind of food astronauts should eat in space
B.find out how to keep astronauts safe and healthy in space
C.check if fresh vegetables can be processed safely in space
D.test if it’s possible to grow nutritious and safe food in space
19.What can we learn from the passage?
A.Earth-grown vegetables are safer and have more nutrients.
B.ISS-grown lettuce of different years has different nutrients.
C.Scientists wanted to understand nutrients in processed food.
D.Fewer bacteria and fungi were found on ISS-grown vegetables.
20.What do the underlined words “are consistent” in the last paragraph probably mean?
    A.Stay unchanged. B.Become special. C.Stay comfortable. D.Become enjoyable.
21.The last paragraph suggests that ______.
A.Veggie plays an important part in astronauts’ healthy eating
B.astronauts need to keep the plant growth room dry and clean
C.researchers didn’t find out what food could be grown in space
D.scientists need to do further research on planting food in space

In March, 2020, a family of 15 wild Asian elephants left their habitat in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province. Since then, they had kept going north, through mountains, forests, rivers and even city streets. Along their journey, they ran into villages and ate farmers’ corn. But no one blamed(责怪)them. “It is OK. They are just hungry,” a farmer said.
Scientists guessed that the elephants were losing their habitat, so they might go north to look for a new home with more food. Or the group might lose its way because its leader had no experience!
To help the elephants get home and protect them, the government used 76 police cars and trucks, as well as five diggers and nine drones(无人机). Police and scientists closely watched them. They watched the group’s movement and sent warnings(警示)to nearby people not to get close to the elephants. They also helped them with food and drink. Finally, the elephants ended their trip safely and happily after 17 months and a 500-kilometer journey.

Hey, everyone. I’m Wang Xue. Our topic (话题) today is ________. What do you think about it? If you have any opinions, welcome to share them.

I think it is really noisy to set off firecrackers (爆竹). Some people set them off at midnight. People nearby cannot sleep well. It also creates air pollution and lots of rubbish. So I think there is no need to set them off.

Setting off firecrackers is a tradition during Chinese festivals. People set them off to wish a happy new year. We cannot give it up.

I like traveling. But the virus has made this more dangerous. I have to stay at home during the winter holiday. It is so boring.

I think we can improve firecrackers. We cannot set them off freely because now they are dangerous. But if we can make them better for the air, we wouldn’t have to give them up.

I think we can use something else to replace them. For example, we can use LED fireworks. Even kids can play with them.
49.Which of the following can be put in the blank “_________” in the first paragraph?
A.what we should do during Chinese festivals B.whether we should set off firecrackers
C.where to during the winter holiday D.how to make the air better
    50.What’s Li Qing’s opinion?
A.Improving firecrackers. B.Setting off firecrackers. C.Giving up. D.Using LED fireworks.
51.Whose topic is different from others?
    A.Shi Jia’s. B.Liu Ran’s. C.Zhang Qi’s. D.Lin Yisong’s.
(2022春·浙江杭州·八年级期末)Jenny is excited to go to school these days. The 13-year-old girl is from South Gate Middle School in Los Angeles, US. She is taking care of three green abalones (鲍鱼) at school.
The students of Violeta Llamas science class, including Jenny, have cared for the sea animals since January. The science class has eight teams. Each team takes turns to care for the abalones. Team Five—Jenny, Alexis, Jennifer and Ricardo—have now got their turn.
The abalones are kept in a box of seawater. Every day, Alexis checks if the water has too much salt. Too much salt is bad for the health of the abalones. Jenny makes fresh seawater. Then the four students work together to clean up the waste in the box and give some food to the abalones.
“Sea life is like a baby. You have to clean them and care for them.” Jennifer said.
Nancy Cruse, a scientist, leads the project. She said the number of green abalones is going down because people have caught too many of them. She said protecting the sea lives now depends on the young students.
“The students love taking care of the abalones,” said Llamas.
“Taking care of the abalones could open the door for those who want to be a sea life scientist or an environment protector,” she said.
The students’ time with the abalones will end this school year. Cruse and a team of volunteers will record the abalones and then let them return to the sea.

The number of cat owners in China is the second largest in the world after the United States. One important reason is that more young people are taking cats as pets. Maybe that’s because cats are clean pets and you don’t have to walk them. More cats bring more jobs. Many people now work at pet shops and hospitals.
But cats can be problems, too. Some people throw their pet cats away. The cats become homeless. They can pass on diseases. They also hunt and kill other animals like birds and frogs. So in Japan and Australia, the governments take homeless cats to animal hospitals. Doctors operate on them. So the cats can’t have babies. In this way, the number of cats will not go up.
56.How many things can people do in a cat coffee shop according to Paragraph 1?
    A.Four. B.Three. C.Two. D.One.
57.Which country has the largest number of cat owners?

B.Because cats are lovely and friendly.
C.Because more people work at pet shops.
D.Because cats are clean and easy to keep.
59.What might be the main idea of the last paragraph?
A.To keep pet cats or not.
    B.Popular cat coffee shops.
C.Why not take cats as pets.
    D.More cats, more problems.
(2022春·浙江杭州·八年级期末)Robots may seem smart, but they cannot even pick up a chess piece. “Robots are klutzes (笨手笨脚的人),” said US AI engineer Ken Goldberg.
Robot scientists say that one-year-old human babies have better movement skills than robots do. Let’s take a look at some tasks that are easy for kids but not for robots.
    Pick things up.
Picking things up is not easy. If we drop our pencil on the floor, our brains work hard. First, we must find the pencil and look at its distance (距离). Then we move our hands to it. A robot cannot always move its “hand” to the right place. Calculating the distance is not easy. Then, when we touch the pencil, it might roll (滚动) a little bit. Robots cannot easily understand this either. So, if you drop a pencil on the floor, a robot will probably roll it around the room.
    Get around in our world.
If someone drops you in a building you’ve never been to, you might feel a bit lost. But you can look around, find a door and get out quickly. You will not get stuck (困住的) in a corner. But a robot will look everywhere for a door, even on ceilings (天花板) and floors. This is because it’s hard for them to understand spaces, especially large, blank things such as walls or ceilings. Scientists need to train them with lots of data to learn this.
Understand the world made by people.
“Common sense” is what we don’t need to think or talk about. Because of common sense, we do not look for doors on the ceiling. We pick up a coffee cup by its handle (把手). We feel whether it has coffee inside, and whether it is hot. A robot? It may turn the cup upside down. It may hold the hot part of the cup, hurting itself. Scientists have tried teaching robots common-sense rules. But even huge databases don’t help much. There are just too many rules and too many exceptions. Maybe they just need more time to learn.
60.What might happen when a robot tries to pick up a pencil?
A.It might not find the pencil.
    B.Its brain might stop working.
C.It might stop to watch the pencil roll.
D.It might roll the pencil around the room.
61.To find a door, what will a robot do?
    A.Stay in a corner.
    B.Drop itself in a building.
C.Look everywhere, even on the ceilings.
D.First think about what the door might lead to.
62.Why might a robot hold the hot part of a cup?
A.Because it doesn’t have common sense.
B.Because it doesn’t want to break it.
C.Because it cannot find the handle.
    D.Because it is strong enough.
63.What can we learn from this passage?
A.Robots are not helpful at all.
    B.Robots don’t follow human orders.
C.Robots have trouble understanding our world.
D.Robots are good at training themselves.

(2022春·江苏镇江·八年级统考期末)I had an accident with my plane in the Desert of Sahara six years ago. Something was broken in my engine (引擎). The first night, I went to sleep on the sand, a thousand miles from any human living area. Thus you can imagine my amazement, at sunrise, when I was awakened by a strange little voice.
It said, “If you please—draw me a sheep!”
    “What?”
    “Draw me a sheep!”
I stared at him in surprise. I had been trapped in the desert a thousand miles from any living area. And yet my little man seemed neither to be lost among the sands, nor to be hungry or thirsty or full of fear. I said to him, “But—what are you doing here?”
And in answer he repeated, very slowly, “If you please—draw me a sheep…”
Then I remembered how my studies had been all about history, grammar, geography and so on, and that grown-ups discouraged me in my painter’s career when I was six years old. I never learned to draw anything, except boas (蟒蛇) from the outside and boas from the inside.
He answered me, “That doesn’t matter. Draw me a sheep.”
But I had never drawn a sheep. So I drew for him one of the two pictures I had drawn so often. It was that of the boa from the outside. “No, no, no! I do not want an elephant inside a boa. A boa is a very dangerous creature, and an elephant is very large and heavy. What I need is a sheep.”
So then I made a drawing.
He looked at it carefully, then he said, “No. This sheep is already very sickly. Make me another.”
    So I made another drawing.
My friend smiled gently. “You see yourself,” he said, “that this is not a sheep. This is a ram (公羊). It has horns (角).”
So then I did my drawing over once more.
But it was rejected too, just like the others. “This one is too old. I want a sheep that will live a long time.”
By this time my patience was exhausted, because I was in a hurry to start taking my engine apart. I tossed (挥动) off this drawing.
“This is only his box. The sheep you asked for is inside.”
“That is exactly the way I wanted it! Do you think that this sheep will have to have a great deal of grass?”
    “Why?”
“Because where I live everything is very small...”
“There will surely be enough grass for him,” I said, “It is a very small sheep that I have given to you.”
He bent his head over the drawing, “Not so small that—Look! He has gone to sleep...”
And that is now I made the acquaintance (认识) of the little prince.

(2022春·江苏镇江·八年级统考期末)COVID-19 is still spreading around the planet. This year’s Earth Day focuses on climate (气候) change. Scientists agree that climate change is causing harm to the world in the form of bad weather and natural disasters. Will climate change lead to more disease outbreaks in the future?
The answer is a possible “yes”. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), studies have shown that a warming Earth is causing more infectious (传染性的) diseases.
Malaria (疟疾), a serious and sometimes deadly disease, is mainly spread by mosquitoes (蚊子). Climate change results in more heat waves and floods, which provide perfect conditions for mosquitoes to breed (繁殖). In India, for example, the warmer climate has increased the risk by about five times. Studies also suggest that global increases in temperature will drive disease—carrying insects from the equator (赤道) to the north. This means some diseases like malaria or dengue fever (登革热) may move into new areas, such as Europe.
Deforestation (滥伐森林), a major cause of climate change, has something to do with infectious diseases, according to Nature. In places such as Central and West Africa, there have been serious deforestation and losses of living areas for bats (蝙蝠). These bats have started living closer to humans, which increases the possibility of Ebola (埃博拉) outbreaks.
As ice keeps melting (融化) into water, diseases that lie under the ice may also come back. In 2016, a city in northern Russia saw an outbreak of anthrax (炭疽) during a heat wave. Scientists believe the virus came out from the frozen soil because of rising temperatures. About 90 people were infected, the New York Times reported.
What can we do to “cool” Earth?
    Governments can
²Put a tax (税) or fee on carbon emissions.
²Advise using clean energy, such as wind and sun energy.
²Make policies and laws to protect the environment.
    You can
²Turn off electronic devices, such as computers and TVs when you aren’t using them.
²Take a walk, ride a bike or take public transportation as much as you can.
    ²Buy products that are energy-efficient.
70.What kind of harm may be caused by climate change?
A.Deforestation. B.Energy shortage. C.Transportation cost. D.Bad weather and natural disasters.
71.What does the underline word “This” in Paragraph 3 mean?
A.The rising temperatures help mosquitoes to breed. B.Serious diseases can only stay alive in northern areas.
C.Insects help spread some serious diseases to the north. D.High temperatures make a difference to the looks of insects.
72.What is TRUE according to the passage?
A.An outbreak of anthrax resulted from the frozen soil. B.The climate change does little harm to the people’s health.
C.Bats act as a way for diseases to spread because of the deforestation. D.This year’s Earth Day advises people to stop the spread of the diseases.
73.The purpose of this article is to________.
A.explain the possible diseases under the warmer climate B.introduce how to save energy and protect the environment

Before we went ahead and dug up the grass, we spent some time thinking about where it would work best. At last, we chose an old sandbox(沙坑)in our front yard to become our garden.
We dreamed about a lively garden with lots of vegetables. We asked many people what we should do to turn this sandbox into a space, then plants can grow in it. And they gave us lots of ideas. My sister was the most knowledgeable, so we listened mostly to her. At first, Mike made a wood fence(栅栏)and I painted it with the kids. We chose a darker color because it would fit our light grey house.
Next, Mike dug 17 holes. Then we filled them with soil(土壤). It was still too cold to plant anything, so for days I just stared out the window at these holes. To me, it looked much too untidy. I advised to fill those holes back and dig new ones. This time we ended up with 10. Much better.
Over the next few weeks, I worked on getting everything planted in my garden. I started by planting green onion. But I was too excited and planted it too early. Right away it was clear that it wasn’t going to survive. I had to give it up and try something else. Then my next door neighbor gave me red roses to put in my garden. A few days later we went to a greenhouse and came back not with green onion but peppers, tomatoes and so on. Clearly the vegetable and flower garden was slowly becoming our dream garden. Oh well!
I love the way it turned out. This garden will always remind me of my sister.

    (2022春·四川乐山·八年级统考期末)
Wang Yaping, a world famous Chinese name, is an astronaut, and a “space teacher” as well. Tiangong space station welcomed the first woman astronaut.
When China sent Yang Liwei, the first astronaut, into space in 2003, Wang Yaping’s space dream started. She told herself, “My motherland has a man astronaut now. It will be great if I am the first woman astronaut. How I hope to be an astronaut. I must try my best to make it!”
Wang was already a pilot in the Chinese army at that time. And after having safe flights for 1,600 hours over nine years, Wang became a candidate(候选人) to be an astronaut in 2010. She did the same training as men. “The space environment will not change anything just because you are a woman,” she said. The most difficult is the high-G training. “You can see a red button there, and you can press it to stop training if you can’t bear it.” But Wang never used it. “In my heart there is no such a red button. If I press it I will not be a true astronaut.”
Finally, in June 2013 the great day came. She joined the team for the Shenzhou Ⅹ mission. She stayed in space for 15 days, and successfully gave a space class. On October 16, 2021, with the Shenzhou Ⅻ mission she became the first woman astronaut to enter Tiangong space station, and stayed in space for half a year with Zhai Zhigang and Ye Guangfu. The 41-year-old Chinese woman made history, and she gave two more space classes to students on the Earth, so wonderful and attractive. Catherine Coleman, a retired(退休的)NASA(美国航空航天局)astronaut, sent a greeting to Wang before the Shenzhou Ⅻ trip. Coleman said, “When you look out of the window and see the stars and the Earth, billions of women will be looking out that window with you.”
It was not a short and easy way before Wang Yaping became the first woman to enter the Tiangong space station. It is a good example for all of us. Whatever the difficult is, never give up, and you will get over it at last.
    109.Wang Yaping’s dream was to be _________.
    A.a teacher B.a doctor C.an astronaut
110.Wang Yaping was born in _________.

B.can help the trainer stop training
C.means the trainer is not a true astronaut
112.How many space lessons did Wang Yaping give?
    A.One. B.Two. C.Three.
113.How long has Wang Yaping stayed in space as an astronaut?
    A.More than a year. B.Over 190 days. C.Six months.
(2022春·四川乐山·八年级统考期末)Nowadays, mobile phones take up most of our time. We look at our mobile phones as we’re walking, play with them as we’re studying, and don’t want to put them down as we go to bed.
The China Security Perception Report (2021) by the Internet Development Research Institution (机构) of Peking University says over half of internet users say they want to get away from the internet and stay away from mobile phones. However, it is a very tall order especially now in China because we use our phones to pay for everything we bought every day.
There’s a new app which has a function (功能) to help users manage the time. For example, users can see how many times they’ve unlocked their phone, how many times they’ve checked their social media apps, and how much time they spend on each app every day. After seeing this information, the users will make some changes.
With the App Timer (计时) function, users can set a time limit (限制) for how long they can use each app for every day. After they’ve reached the limit, they won’t be able to use the app until the next day. And with another function, the app gets incoming calls silent when the user puts the phone face down.
But if people truly want to make full use of their free time instead of losing hours on their phones, it will not need to depend on any apps.
After all, who needs to use an app to stop you from using other apps? The easiest answer would be just to use your willpower (毅力).

A.It stops the users from using willpower.
B.It checks how much time the users spend on apps.
C.It lists the times the users have unlocked the phone.
D.It shows the times the users have checked social media apps.
117.How can the users get incoming calls silent with the help of the app?
A.Turn off the phone. B.Turn down the sound.
C.Put up the phone. D.Put the phone face down.
