设计说明

首先复习Reading中涉及的谋杀案，根据几个话题复述课文。然后用图片呈现生词kidnapping,导入本课时的绑架案，根据所给的记录了解一些信息，然后根据所听的会话完成一系列任务，由此内容展开说的练习，让学生谈论自己如何保护自己，使自己免受犯罪活动的伤害。最后利用练习来复习巩固本节课知识。

教学目标

通过本课时的教学，让学生达成以下目标：

1.知识目标

掌握单词和短语: kidnapping, wealth, prison, kidnap, safety, lock, shut, guard, in prison, guard against sth.。

2.能力目标

(1) 能够听懂有关警察询问犯罪嫌疑人的录音,训练学生听说的技能，逐步掌握听力技巧；

(2) 能够根据信息写出关于绑架案的报告；

(3) 能够谈论安全防范措施。

3.情感目标

树立安全防范意识，具备自我保护能力。

Step 1  Revision

Talk about the murder case in West Town. They may choose one of the subjects, like the victim, the suspect, the detective and the murderer.

Step 2  Presentation  

1. Present the new words and expressions: kidnapping, in prison and criminal record.

2. Read the new words.

Step 3  The kidnapping

1. Show A1. Read the notes and answer the following questions.

(1) Who is the victim?

(2) How old is the victim?

(3) What does he wear?

(4) When did the crime happen?

(5) Who are suspects?

Answers: (1) Guan Fei, Guan Dawei’s son.

(2) He is four years old.

(3) He wears a red T-shirt, a brown jacket and blue trousers.

(4) It happened between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. on 28 December.

(5) Wang Gang and Fan Yiming.

2. Listen to the tape twice and complete the notes in A1. Check the answers.

Step 5  Language points

a man of great wealth一个富有的人

(1) wealth 名词，意为“财富”；wealthy形容词，意为“富有的”。

(2) of + n.=adj.

a man of great wealth=a wealthy man

His advice is of great value.

=His advice is very valuable. 他的建议很有价值。

Step 6  Study skills

1. Tell them how to read a novel.

When you read a novel, you often read quickly to get the general idea. You do not need to understand each word.

2. Read the passage and answer the questions.

(1) Who was the murderer, a man or a woman?    

(2) What was the murderer like?

(3) How was the murder done?   

(4) What is the meaning of “Rache” in German?

Answers: (1) A man.

(2) He was more than six feet tall, was in the prime of life and had small feet for his height.

(3) The murder was done with poison.

(4) “Rache” is for “revenge” in German.
