first: 第一；首先，是一个序数词。
序数词即表示顺序的数词，经常与the连用。
表达数量的数词，叫做基数词，如ne, tw, three等。英语中，表示顺序的数词跟表达数量的数词不一样。
序数词是由基数词变化而来的，基数词变序数词的规则主要有以下几种：
(1) 1~3的序数词分别为first，secnd，third，需要特殊记忆。(2) 4~9的序数词通常由基数词加后缀-th构成，其中特殊的有：five-fifth第五，eight-eighth第八，nine-ninth第九。
(3) 整十（不包括ten）的序数词，要先把基数词词尾的-y变成-ie，再加-th。如：twenty-twentieth第二十，thirty-thirtieth第三十，frty-frtieth第四十。(4)大于二十的两位数只把个位数变为序数词即可。 twenty-ne — twenty-first第二十一，fifty-fur— fifty-furth第五十四。
