What do you think of sharks (鲨鱼) ?Are you afraid of them, or do you think that they area special sea animal?

Sharks are among the oldest animals in the world. They’ve been on Earth for at least 420 million years. There are over 350 different types of sharks in the world.

Sharks come in all sizes. A whale shark can reach over 20 metres in length,making it the largest shark of the family. Most sharks are about the same size as a human,or a little larger.

Sharks hunt and eat fish,sea animals like dolphins and seals,and other sharks. Sharks have an amazing sense of smell. A shark can smell even a single drop of blood (血) in the water miles away. That helps them find their food.

People think sharks are man-eaters. In fact,97 per cent of the shark types have no interest in us. They attack people by mistake. When we’re in the water, they sometimes think we’re seals! When the sun goes down or comes up,sharks are looking for food. So at these times people shouldn’t go swimming in the sea.

Humans are a greater threat (威胁) to sharks than sharks are to us. People kill sharks for food and their skin. The number of sharks in the world is dropping fast.
