1.Warm up.

  Ask these questions:

  What’s your hobby?

  How often do you practice it?

  Do you want to join … club?

Do you want to do something to protect them? We can join the Birdwatching Club. But we should fill in an application form first.

2. If you do, you will have to fill in the application form. Students fill in it with their own information.

1. Listen and read

1)Listen to the tape first

1 Which club does Amy want to join?

2 What subjects are her favorite subjects?

3.What are her hobbies and interests?

(check the answers one by one)

2)Read the application letter and answer:

1.Why does she join the club?

2.How did Amy get interested in the club?

3.When is her free time?

   4.How do we get in touch with her?

(discuss the answers in groups)

2.   Read the passage quickly.

Step 3. Production

Activity 1

1. Collect some useful information for the students to write:

Why did she write the letter?

Something about herself, school and grade

Why would she like to join the club?

If the application is successful..!

(sum up the steps of writing)

Activity 2

1.  Ask the students to write their own application letter according to their application forms.

2  .Exchange, read and correct their letters.
