1. Lead in

By showing students a song “yesterday once more”, teachers should develop and foster the students’ learning interest. After that, teachers can introduce a tense in this song to introduce what we will learn today.

2. Grammar

①    Introduce the verb past tense.

②    Introduce the meaning of the simple past tense.

③    To show the adverbial of time

④    Introduce the structure of the simple past tense.

3. Exercises

①    Give students some minutes to finish exercises.

②    Check their answers and try to analyze these questions.

4.Summary and homework

Teachers should help students to make a summary about this lesson by using a chart.

This teaching period aims at introducing the usage of the simple past tense. Students are expected to master the rules of how to change the present forms into the past forms of the verbs. After learning this lesson, students can have a basic understanding of this new tense. However, the difficult point is that students maybe confuse the simple past tense and the simple present tense. Teachers should help them distinguish them.
