    Tnya, Elsa and Mark are students at LaGuardia High Schl in New Yrk City. It’s a schl with regular academic (学术的) classes, but it als gives special attentin t the perfrming arts. Tnya likes dancing, Elsa wants t be an artist and Mark is a singer.

That’s why I like playing n the basketball team. We wrk tgether and cmpete against ther teams.”

    Nashville, Tennessee — nicknamed (绰号) Music City — is knwn as a center f cuntry music. The city will sn becme even mre musical. Cnstructin (建设) f the Natinal Museum f African-American Music (NMAAM) will begin this year. NMAAM’s aim is t celebrate the mre than 50 music styles that African Americans have created r influenced.
    “Whether yu’re talking abut cuntry, blues, R&B, jazz, even rck and rll, the dds (可能性) are pretty high that it’s African American in its beginnings,” NMAAM president and CEO Henry Hicks says.
    The museum is due t pen in 2019. Visitrs will have many chances t explre and learn. They will be able t enjy musical perfrmances and learn the histry behind the music. They will be able t recrd their wn sngs and try ut dance mves.
    NMAAM is already ffering prgrams, including a summer music camp held at Tennessee State University, in Nashville. The mst interesting part fr camper Matthew Mueller, 10, was when Lucius “Spnman” Talley played the spns, a creative way t make music.
    “Peple started using spns because they were smething that all peple had. Nt everybdy culd affrd instruments,” Matthew says.
    Matthew’s grandmther, Karen Mueller, is a music teacher. She is excited abut the museum teaching peple abut the many styles f African-American music. “There is such a rich histry f music that African Americans have brught t America and t the wrld,” she says. “I hpe that peple will cme t Nashville nt nly t see all the cuntry music things that g n but t visit this resurce as well.”

    Lily, a student frm Marlbrugh Girls’ Cllege, says she came up with the idea while drawing rugby (橄榄球) balls fr her entry (参赛作品). Her winning design includes a pukek as a table tennis bat, a weka as a basketball, a kakap as a tennis ball, a fantail as a badmintn shuttlecck and a kiwi as a rugby ball.
    “S I built upn this rugby ball drawing and drew a kiwi and it wrked surprisingly well. I then tried it with ther native birds and they als turned ut pretty great. I was surprised when I fund ut that I’d wn, I was s happy and immediately tld my family and friends,” Lily says.
    “I hpe t ne day have a career in art. I’m excited t knw that the public can buy my design s my art becmes part f New Zealand schl life.”
    Lily wn an iPad and $500 as the winner f this cmpetitin.
