    *Peple can live withut fd fr mre than a mnth, but they can’t live withut water fr mre than week. Lsing mre than 20% f the nrmal water cntent f ur bdies will result in a painful death.
    *Abut 65-70% f ur bdies are water, s it is imprtant fr us t drink a lt f water. Each day, a nrmal persn will drink abut 2.4 liters f water r ther drinks. In America, the average persn will use 260 liters f water a day and n average, each persn will drink 60, 600 liters f water in his/her life.
    *Sme peple believe that ur emtins and mental stability are affected when there is a full mn because the gravitatinal pull f the mn affects the water in ur bdies in the same way as it affects the cean tides. Legends say that werewlves appear when there is a full mn.
    *Yu need mre water during and after exercise because yu lse water by sweating and yu need t replace the water that is lst.
    *Water freezes at 0℃ (32℉). When it freezes, it changes int ice. Water bils at 100℃(212℉) when it changes its frm int a gas, becming steam.

    * Pint ut that “a lt f” nly can be used in definite sentences (肯定句). In negative r interrgative sentences (在否定句和疑问句中), we shuld change “a lt f” int “much” r “many”.
    eg. We have a lt f relatives.

    “a lt” can be used as prnun and adverb.
    eg. --- Mum, where are my scks?

    *Cmpare the tw sentences.
    *Explain that “n” = nt any. It can mdify [U] r [C] nun. It can nly be used as adj. While “nne” is the prnun frm (代词形式) f “n”.
    Eg. Time and tide wait fr n man. 时间不等人。
    Nne f them can speak Chinese. 他们中没有一个人能说中文。
    Jack’s wife likes nne f his friends.
    Nne f the blame is yurs. 一点也不怪你。
    It is n bad thing. 这不是一件坏事。
    Edisn is n genius. 爱迪生不是天才。
    We use “Hw many… and Hw much…” t ask the amunts. They mean “有多少…”. “Hw many” is t mdify [C] nun while “Hw much” is t mdify [U].
    Eg. Hw many peple are there in yur family?
    Hw many supermarkets are there in Shanghai?
    Hw much xygen des a persn need everyday?
    Hw much (mney) d yu want t finish yur prject?
    *When we answer the questin in brief, we can use “many, much, a few, a little, a lt and nne” as prnun t refer t the nun mentined in the questin.
    --- Hw much paint d yu need? 你需要多少油漆?
    --- I dn’t need much. 我不需要很多。
    --- Hw many mbile phnes d yu have? 你有多少部手机?
    --- I have nne. 我一部也没有。

    Dn’t read here. There is t little light here. 不要在这里读书,这里光线不足。
    “enugh” 表示足够的, 可以加可数名词或不可数名词。
    eg. We have enugh instant ndles in the cupbard.
    We dn’t have enugh butter. Peter, g and get sme.

    条件状语从句
    条件状语从句常由连词if引导。条件状语从句不能用will表示将来,要用动词一般现在时来替代,即主语用将来时代替,从句用一般现在时表示将来的意思。
    eg. If yu dn’t wrk hard, yu wn’t pass the exam. 如果你学习不用功,你就不会通过考试。
    If yu aren’t careful, yu can’t get a full mark. 如果你不仔细,你就得不了满分。
    注意:若if 从句中有nt ,一般可以用unless (除非)来代替。

    除非你用功学习,否则你就通不过考试。

    1 Flw charts are used t shw the sequence r rder f things s that we knw hw things are dne step by step. Ask students t d exercise s A1 and A2. Students may need t refer t the main passage again if they have frgtten the rder f the water’s jurney.
    2 D exercise B. Students nly t recrd the mre imprtant things in their life frm their birth up t their 30th birthday. Students may first decide hw many steps they want. Tell them they needn’t t give a true accunt. Ask them t use their imaginatin and make their flw charts interesting and tell them they can make all kinds f endings.
    3 Ask several students t give their flw charts and ask ther students t have a cmment n them.
