They are like “tw peas in a pd”.One day,the tw best friends stpped ❶ talking t each ther. Why? Grant wanted ❷ t cpy Patrick's hmewrk. That way,he culd spend mre time playing basketball ❸. But t his surprise ❹ , Patrick didn't agree.
    “N way! I can't help yu like that,” said Patrick.“What a friend!” Grant said angrily. Patrick felt awful. He said,“I wn't lend ❺ yu my hmewrk. Friends dn't help each ther like that. That's cheating!” That afternn,they parted and went their wn ways. In the fllwing days,they bth felt bad. A few days later, there was a schl basketball game. Patrick went t the gym t watch it. Grant was there,t. At the end f ❻ the game,the tw friends lked at each ther.
    Grant immediately came ver and held ut his hand. He wanted t say smething,but he felt embarrassed. Patrick smiled and said,“Gd friends dn't have t say srry. They just knw it. I want t be yur friend,nt yur enemy.” That day the tw bys made a deal. They wuld d their wn hmewrk first and playbasketball later.

    stp /stɒp/ v.使停止
    辨析stp ding sth.与stp t d sth.
    后面既可接不定式又可接动词的­ing形式的动词:frget t d 忘记去做(事还未做)frget ding 忘记做过(事已做过)remember t d 记着去做(事还未做)remember ding 记着做过(事已做过)
    【点拨】本题考查stp的用法。句意:汤姆的妈妈告诉他要停止吃太多肉。stp ding sth.“停止做某事”;stp t d sth.停下来去做某事。综合句意分析可知应选B。

    spend意为“花费”,常用句型为“sb.+spend(s)+时间/金钱+n sth.”和“sb.+spend(s)+时间/金钱+(in)ding sth.”,指花费金钱或时间做某事。
    eg:Mary spent 20 yuan n the strybk. 玛丽花了20元买那本故事书。 Jack's brther spent 3 days in making a kite. 杰克的弟弟花了三天的时间做了一只风筝。
    surprise /sə'praɪz/ n.意想不到的事 v.使惊奇
    surprise作名词时的常见短语:t ne's surprise 使某人感到惊奇的是in surprise 惊奇地eg:T my surprise,he lst his child. 使我感到惊奇的是,他丢失了他的孩子。 Rse lked at her mther in surprise. 罗丝惊奇地看着她妈妈。
    surprise 的形容词形式有两个,它们是surprised和surprising。surprised指“感到惊奇的”,主语多是人,其后可接介词at;surprising指“令人惊奇的”,做表语时主语多是事物。
    一语辨异:We're surprised at the surprising news.我们对那条令人吃惊的消息感到吃惊。
    lend /lend/ v.借给(某人钱或东西);借出
    辨析lend,brrw和keeplend指“借给;借出”,常与t连用,构成lend sth.t sb.结构。eg:Can yu lend that bk t me? 你能把那本书借给我吗?
    brrw指“借;借用”,常与frm连用,构成brrw sth.frm sb.结构。eg:He ften brrws sme mney frm me. 他常常向我借一些钱。keep指“借阅或保留多长时间”,常与fr+一段时间连用。eg:Hw lng may I keep the bk? 这本书我可以借多长时间? Yu can keep it fr ne week. 你可以借一周。
    一语辨异:Yu'd better nt lend him the bks brrwed frm the library because yu can keep them fr nly tw days.你最好不要把从图书馆借来的书借给他,因为你只能借两天。
    【点拨】lend意为“借出”;brrw意为“借入”;keep意为“保存,保留”。根据句意“我把我的词典落在家里了。你能借给我你的吗?”可知选A。

    辨析 at the end f,by the end f与in the end
    at the end f 的意思是“在……的末端;在……的结尾”,它既可指时间,也可指位置。eg:Turn right at the end f the rad. 在路的尽头右转。
    by the end f的意思是“到……底为止”,只能表示时间的概念。eg:We must finish the teaching building by the end f this year. 我们必须在今年年底之前建完教学楼。in the end的意思是“最后,最终”,只能用来表示时间的概念。in the end 相当于finally/at last,之后不能接介词f。eg:They argued at first,but in the end they became gd friends. 他们起先吵架了,但是最终他们成了好朋友。
