Jenna threw the burnt piece int the sink and put in the ther slice f bread. This time, she turned dwn the fire s it cked nicely.
    Then Jeff nticed steam shting ut f the pt and the lid starting t shake. The next minute, the prridge biled ver and put ut the fire. Jenna panicked. Thankfully, Jeff stayed calm and turned ff the gas quickly. But the stve was a mess nw. Jenna tld Jeff t clean it up s they culd cntinue t ck the rest f the prridge. But Jeff’s hand tuched the ht burner and he gave a cry f pain. Jenna made him put his hand in cld water. Then she caught the smell f burning. Oh dear! The piece f bread in the pan had turned black as well.

    Jim liked what he had written. He cpied it neatly and gt an envelpe and a stamp frm his dad. He ran t the mailbx with his entry (参赛作品). “Mm will lve having a shpping spree,” he thught.
    Jim checked the mailbx every day fr his prize. Days passed by, and then weeks. Sn it was the day befre Mther’s Day. Jim still hadn’t heard anything abut the cntest.
    “What am I ging t d nw?” he wndered. He didn’t have a present, and he didn’t have a shpping spree. And he still didn’t have any mney. He had t think f smething. Jim clsed his eyes and curled his tes and thught s hard that his ears hurt.

    "I'll try,” the shpkeeper smiled. "Peple arund here dn't usually have that kind f mney t spend n things. It shuld keep fr a while."
    Reuben respectfully tuched his wrn cap and walked ut. He wuld raise the mney and nt tell anybdy, fr he thught Mum wuld get surprised when she saw that brch. On hearing the sund f hammering (捶打)frm a side street, Reuben suddenly had an idea that he culd raise mney by selling the used nail bags. Peple built their wn hmes in Bay Rberts, using nails bught in bags frm a lcal factry. Smetimes the used bags were thrwn away at the cnstructin site, and Reuben knew he culd sell them back t the factry fr five cents a piece. That day he sld tw nail bags and hid the mney in a rusty sda tin.

Deciding t take care f the little baby till it became independent, I placed it in its nest. “What shuld we d next?” I asked. N respnse again. Instead, Micah went inside and hpped n her iPad. “Bird vides?” I asked. “Yes, I'm finding ut what t feed it,” she said seriusly.
