The rise f“pizzly”bears appears with plar bears' decline: their numbers are estimated t decrease by mre than 30% in the next 30 years. This sudden fall is linked partly t “pizzly”bears taking up plar bears' ranges, where they utcmpete them, but als t plar bears’ highly specialized diets.
“Plar bears mainly cnsumed sft fds even during the Medieval Warm Perid, a previus perid f rapid warming,” DeSantis said, referring t fat meals such as seals.“Althugh all f these starving plar bears are trying t find alternative fd surces, like seabird eggs, it culd be a tipping pint fr their survival.”Actually, the calries they gain frm these surces d nt balance ut thse they burn frm searching fr them. This culd result in a habitat ready fr the hybrids t mve in and take ver, leading t a lss in bidiversity if plar bears are replaced.
“We’re having massive impacts with climate change n species,”DeSantis said. “The plar bear is telling us hw bad things are. In sme sense, ‘pizzly’bears culd be a sad but necessary cmprmise given current warming trends.”

“One imprtant finding f this new study is that languages in the trpics and Himalayan regin are likely t be increasingly threatened in the near future, because these regins still have many lcal languages with a small number f speakers, and at the same time are experiencing rapid ecnmic grwth,” said Aman.
Ecnmic grwth may endanger languages fr a variety f reasns. Fr instance, speakers f endangered languages may view anther mre ppular language as ffering ecnmic pprtunities, and thus abandn their wn languages. “There are ther imprtant factrs that might end anger languages,” said the researchers. Fr instance, plicies regarding hw languages are used and taught in schls can be very different amng cuntries and even within each cuntry, and these factrs may explain mre detailed patterns in language endangerment.
Aman suggested it culd be pssible t frecast(预见)future threats t the diversity(多样化)f languages. “There exists detailed infrmatin n future changes in the envirnment, ecnmies and climates(气候),” Aman said. “Using such infrmatin, tgether with the findings f this study and further analysis, we wuld like t understand what will happen t the wrld’s languages, where it will happen and which languages will be threatened in particular.”

    16.答案:①-⑤EDFBG
解析:①根据前文“Knwing the cultural differences between yurself and thers f yur age can help yu understand friends wh are f a different race r culture.(了解自己和同龄人之间的文化差异可以帮助你理解来自不同种族或文化的朋友)”以及后文“Yu’ll als knw if yu arc misunderstanding yur friend’s behaviur when it seems like he/she is being rude.(你也会知道当你的朋友看起来很粗鲁的时候,你是否误解了他/她的行为)”可知,E项“With this understanding, yu wn’t be thught implite.(有了这种理解,你就不会被认为是不礼貌的)”起到承接作用,With this understanding代指上文提到的“了解自己和同龄人之间的文化差异”,yu wn’t be thught implite和下文相呼应,符合文意。故选E项。
②根据前文“Family cmes first in the Asian culture.(在亚洲文化中,家庭是第一位的)”可知,本段主要讲述了亚洲和美国青少年在家庭方面的差异,而在亚洲文化中,家庭是第一位的,所以D项“Teenagers have a strng attachment t their parents.(青少年对父母有强烈的依恋)”是对前文的进一步解释,并和后文“While Asian families have a greater dependence n each ther, American families encurage their children and teenagers t be independent.(亚洲家庭对彼此的依赖程度更高,而美国家庭则鼓励孩子和青少年独立)”相呼应。故选D项。
③根据前文“If yu are wrking n a grup prject with teens frm China r ther Asian cuntries, they might fcus n develping a gd relatinship with yu.(如果你和来自中国或其他亚洲国家的青少年一起做小组项目,他们可能会专注于与你建立良好的关系)”可知,此处在讲述亚洲青少年在工作关系中的文化,后文“Develping relatinships with their grup members might cme secnd.(发展与小组成员的关系可能排在第二位)”应是在讲述美国青少年在工作关系中的文化,和亚洲相反,所以F项“Hwever, American teens tend t first fcus n the task.(然而,美国青少年倾向于首先关注任务)”符合文意,和前文构成转折关系,并引出下文。故选F项。
④分析设空,空处是本段小标题,根据后文“In China and many ther Asian cuntries, making direct eye cntact is cnsidered rude and disrespectful. Hwever, in America and sme Eurpean cuntries, it is nt nly seen as apprpriate but als necessary because it means the persn is paying attentin. In Asian culture peple are usually mre cmfrtable with less persnal space than Americans arc. A tuch n the shulder r an arm is cmmn fr Asians even if yu dn’t knw ne anther.(在中国和许多其他亚洲国家,直接的目光接触被认为是粗鲁和不尊重的。
⑤根据前文“It’s imprtant t keep in mind that when learning abut cultural differences, yu shuld nt generalize thse differences.(重要的是要记住,当学习文化差异时,你不应该概括这些差异)”以及后文“All cultures value kindness and respect.(所有的文化都重视善良和尊重)”可知,G项“The key t understanding them with yur friends is t ask them fr advice.(和朋友一起理解他们的关键是向他们征求意见)”符合本段主题,强调学习文化差异,最好是询问他们,尊重他们。故选G项。
