Unit 9    My Favorite Subject is Science.

Teaching Aims：

1. Improve the ability of reading

a. Learn to grasp the keywords and then to pick up the information needed.

b. Learn to find the information from the passage.

c. Master the skill of finding the mainline of the passage.

2. Learn to make a make a survey and report it .

Consolidate what they have learned about describing the characteristic of different subjects;

Teaching Difficulties：

1. Master the skill of reading.

 2.Learn to find the information from the passage.

3.Learn how to describe their schedule.

Teaching methods：task-based teaching method ,pairwork

Teaching Process：

Step1:Warming-up and revision

Play the song Hey ,Jude. Ask students ,What’s your favorite subject? Why do you like it?

Consolidate what have learned about describing the characteristic of different subjects;

Ask question like: What’s your/his/her/ favorite subject?

Why do you like P.E.?

Who is your art teacher？

2. Ask students to make a survey and report it .students who reports it well can get a prize

Purpose:

Help students to revise the knowledge that learned, and lead in the topic of the reading.

Step 2: Pre-reading

 1. Give questions to Ss before they read the passage.

Ask students to underline the things Yu Mei likes and circle the things she doesn’t like.

2 .Let Ss read the passage and find out the answer.

3. Read the passage and find out the answers.

Purpose : Bear several questions in mind, students will read actively.

Step 3: While-reading

1. Ask Ss to be concentrated.

2. Get Ss to guess the meanings of the new words in the passage according to the context.

Step 4 Post-reading

 1. Ask Ss to answer the questions.

(1) What does Yu Mei do at 8:00?

（2）What does Yu Mei do at 9:00?

（3）What does she think of science?

（4）What’s her favorite subject?

（5）Who is her Chinese teacher?

（6） How does she feel about art lesson?

（7） How long does she have art lesson after class?

2. Answer the questions.

3.Check the answers.

4.Complete Yu Mei’s schedule with the information from this letter.

Purpose :By answering the questions students can have a better understanding of the passage. During their reading ,students can develop their reading skills.

Step5. Make their own schedule on Friday.

Step6. Homework : Write a letter toYu Mei to tell her about your Friday.

课后反思：这节阅读课主要是为了提高学生的阅读能力。在阅读前给出于文章相关的问题，让学生有针对性的去阅读，让他们形成良好的阅读习惯。阅读后让学生答题，加强他们对文章的理解。
