It is widely believed that bidiversity (生物多样性) is prmted t save species. But in reality species exist nly as part f ecsystems and cannt survive unless their ecsystems are prtected alng with the diversity they cntain as much as pssible.
Prtecting habitats is imprtant fr keeping bidiversity. In 2003, ver 102,000 habitats cvering nearly 19 millin square kilmetres, r 11.5% f the wrld's land surface, were under sme frm f prtectin. Thugh this has been a great imprvement since 1962, when just 1,000 prtected habitats were listed, it is still nt cnsidered enugh t stp the eccide that is endangering the wrld's bidiversity.
Fr a number f envirnmentalists, prtecting the wrld's 25 bidiversity htspts(热点地区) is critical t saving habitats and species. But many htspts are endangered already, having lst up t three-quarters f their riginal plants.
The pr state f mst bidiversity htspts results directly frm ppulatin grwth and migratin(迁移) int these areas. A study fund that by the mid-1990s arund 1.1 billin peple had lived in these htspts. Mrever, the annual ppulatin grwth rate in these areas was 1.8%, higher than the glbal average f 1.4%. The PAI reprt cncluded that human-related envirnmental changes wuld cntinue t put pressure n htspts. Therefre, keeping bidiversity requires paying clse attentin t ppulatin size.
Prtecting htspts is nt simply a matter f putting up fences r emplying guards. The best results will be achieved when lcal peple are educated abut the value f wildlife, and actually gain a share f the benefits frm ec-turism. Only then d they have a chance t see the benefits f prtecting htspts.
1.What can we infer frm Paragraph l?
A.The lss f any species can affect humans.
B.Endangered species are paid mre attentin t by humans.
C.Species can still survive when their ecsystems are destryed.

    A.Ecsystem prtectin.
B.Reductin in the number f species.
    C.Serius damage t habitats.
    D.Habitat prtectin.
3.What's the direct cause f the terrible state f the htspts?
    A.Ppulatin grwth in htspts.
    B.Migratin ut f these areas.
    C.Glbal warming.
D.The glbal average ppulatin grwth rate.
4.What's the authr's pinin n prtecting the htspts?
    A.It's simple t carry ut.
B.It leads t the increase in turists.
C.It's clsely linked t lcal peple.
D.It suggests that the lcal peple be well edu-cated.

根据第一段第二句“But in reality species exist nly as part f ecsystems and cannt survive unless their ecsystems are prtected alng with the diversity they cntain as much as pssible.”
根据“Thugh this has been a great imprvement since 1962, when just 1,000 prtected habitats were listed”和“that is endangering the wrld's bidiversity”可知,虽然受保护的栖息地增加,但仍然不足以阻止危及世界生物多样性的对栖息地的严重破坏。
根据第四段第一句“The pr state f mst bidiversity htspts results directly frm ppulatin grwth and migratin(迁移) int these areas.” 故选A。
    1.in reality实际上;事实上 2.survive v.
Thugh this has been a great imprvement since 1962, when just 1,000 prtected habitats were listed, it is still nt cnsidered enugh t stp the eccide that is endangering the wrld's bidiversity.
故选A项。
