    This is the furth perid f this unit. The teacher will first check the hmewrk exercises. Since the present cntinuus tense fr future use is nt very difficult fr the students,the teacher just ffers the students the answers t the exercises in Part 1 n Page 57 and leaves Part 2 n Page 58 ut.
    T get Ss a cmplete idea abut the trip alng the Mekng,the teacher will first check the hmewrk exercise n Page 19.T shw Ss Wang Kung’s and Wang Wei’s similar and different attitudes abut the trip clearly,the teacher can designed a chart. This task is designed t develp Ss’ ability f reading between the lines as well as that f summarizing the text.
    After talking abut the attitudes,the teacher can lead in Part 2 f this unit naturally by asking tw questins:
    1.Hw des Wang Kung feel abut the trip nw?
    2.What d yu think has changed his attitude?
    Then the teacher asks Ss t g thrugh the passage quickly and find ut the answers.
    Befre the secnd reading,the teacher first can ask Ss hw a travel jurnal is rganized:(What can they write abut when writing a travel jurnal?then write dwn their answers n the blackbard:see,hear,eat,wear,feel,d),finally ask them t list these things.
    These activities nt nly reminds Ss t read a passage as a whle,but als get them int the habit f reading a passage between the lines. Only in this way can they understand the writer’s implied meaning as well as enjying the pleasure f reading.
    T make the students aware f the safety f a trip and t make sure that it is a safe and pleasant trip,the teacher asks them t hld a discussin abut what t d befre starting a trip and then ask tw f them t wrk tgether and write a shrt dialgue after class. The first task tells Ss t value their lives while the secnd task gives them a chance t practise writing.

    S:The text says:t climb the muntain was hard wrk,but t g dwn the hills was great fun. It als says:we can hardly wait t see them. The later sentence means that Wang Kung and his sister were eager t meet their cusins and set ut fr the trip.
    T:Gd answer and gd explanatin. Yu see,he can read between the lines.
    Class,yu shuld learn frm him.Wh will be a vlunteer t answer the secnd questin?
    S:I’ll try. At first,Wang Kung was nt very eager fr the trip,because he thught the trip wuld nt be very easy because f thin air and cld weather. But the different experiences n the way t the altitude have changed his attitude.

    S:The changeable weather,the ice in autumn,their living in the tent,and the unusual quietness at night.

Thrugh these activities,Ss are given nt nly translatin exercises,but als prfreading exercises,in which the mistakes are the typical nes made by Ss themselves. By checking the tw exercises,the teacher can find ut what Ss are still nt quite familiar with and needs t be imprved and make sme necessary change f his/her teaching plans.
