A rich burial was unearthed by archaelgists at La Almlya, sutheasterm Spain that is the cradle f the El Argar civilizatin, which lived in the regin during the Brnze Age.
La Almlya was a primary center f plitics and wealth in the El Argar territry, and althugh the discvery was made in 2014, experts are nw taking a clser lk at the scilgical and plitical cntext f the unearthed treasure.

Experts believe that the man in the grave was prbably a warrir, wear and tear n his bne indicate he spent a lt f time n hrseback, and his skull had deep scars frm a facial injury, while gld plugs thrugh his earlbes indicated he was smene f distinctin.

Risch is a c-authr f a study that was recently published abut the imprtant findings, that nted the building under which the grave was fund was f equal imprtance - a building specifically dedicated t gverning purpses in Western Eurpe. "
The discvery at La Almlya shed new light n the plitics and gender relatins in ne f the first urban scieties f the West. Previus findings have revealed that wmen were cnsidered adults at a much yunger age than bys were. Excavated grave gds have highlighted that girls as yung as six were buried with knives and tls, but bys wuld be in their teens by the time they wuld be buried alngside such bjects.
Additinally, the graves f sme wmen frm El Argar were repened generatins later t bury ther men and wmen, an unsual practice that experts believe wuld have been a very high hnr. “What exactly their plitical pwer was, we dn't knw,” Risch adds. “But this burial at La Almlya questins the rle f wmen in [Brnze Age] plitics... it questins a lt f cnventinal wisdm.”

    A. have been used fr plitical meetings B. have served sme religius purpses
C.be the first temple built in Western Eurpe D. be specially dedicated t fd trading

Hw much f the math yu've learned in schl is used in everyday life? Fr the majrity f peple, the answer is surprisingly little. Clearly, sme peple learn math very well and apply it in everyday prblem-slving settings. The questin is why mst peple dn't, in spite f spending many years practicing it.
The first explanatin blames the failure f educatin. One f the majr barriers t using a skill in real life is autmaticity. We tend t find the least-effrt slutin t ur prblem. If struggling
thrugh a math prblem is hard fr yu, yu'll find a different way t slve it that desn't rely n math. The familiar mdel fr teaching mathematics revlves arund teachers telling students certain rules, applying thse rules t examples and students then practicing prblems similar t the examples seen in class. By teaching in this way, a lt f the wrk and deep thught that went int the creatin f these mathematical rules is lst. In that sense, peple were never taught math thrughly enugh t use it autmatically in real life.
The secnd explanatin is a little different. It argues that peple may develp cmpetence in math classes, but they struggle t translate real-life prblems int a frmat where they can use thein mathematics knwledge. This seems mst apparent in the case f applying algebra (代数). Students struggle with algebra, but they particularly struggle with wrd prblems. Yet, the equivalent real-life prblems are typically much harder than wrd prblems. Frm this perspective, what peple struggle with is nt ding math, but recgnizing where and hw t apply math t real prblems.
Educatinal researchers nw emphasize the imprtance f transfer and deep understanding They believe we need t give students mre training in nticing and cnverting everyday situatins int the math prblems they knw hw t slve. By using real-life math applicatins, students can make cnnectins between math and everyday life.

    Sectin B
Directins: In Sectin B, yu will hear tw shrt passages and ne lnger cnversatin, and yu will be asked several questins n each f the passages and the lnger cnversatin. The passages and the lnger cnversatin will be read twice, but the questins will be spken nly nce. When yu hear a questin, read the fur pssible answers n yur paper and decide which ne wuld be the best answer t the questin yu have heard.
Questins 1l thrugh13 are based n the fllwing passage.
Imagine yu have a test in schl. It culd be fr a class in histry r mathematics. Hw shuld yu prepare fr this terrible event? If yu are like many students, yu prbably use bth rereading and underlining. But are these truly the best methds?
American scientist Mary Pyc says that bth rereading and highlighting are ineffective study tls. With rereading what is ging t happen is that it is ging t feel like yu already knw the infrmatin because yu’ve already read it.
S, yu have this sense f fluency that is leading yu t think “Ok, yes, I knw the infrmatin.” The prblem with highlighting is that students aren’t always aware f what the mst imprtant infrmatin is. S it’s pssible that they are maybe highlighting details that aren’t as imprtant as the higher level cncepts.
S what shuld yu d if these are nt the best ways t study fr a test? One idea is t test yurself. Simple flashcards can help when yu want t make sure that yu have learned smething. Practicing with an ld versin f previus exams will help yu see the frmat f the questins and it will be gd fr yu t knw what t expect.
    (Nw listen again please.)
    Questins:
    11. What’s wrng with “rereading strategy”?
    12. Why is “highlighting” an ineffective way t study fr a test?
    13. Which f the methds is suggested by the speaker?
Questins14 thrugh16 are based n the fllwing passage.
The destructive impact f fast fashin n the envirnment is widely dcumented. S hw can we, as cnsumers, reduce ur fashin ftprint? One bvius answer is t buy less. Anther is t buy clthes that have been mre sustainably made, using rganic and recycled materials. Hiring clthes is anther way t get new pieces fr ur wardrbe.
But buying secnd-hand may be the simplest slutin and a trend that is grwing fast. By 2030, the secnd-hand clthing market is prjected t be twice the size f fast fashin, accrding t a glbal reprt. S, it seems, the next ten years will see the resale market grw fast, and this is in part because nline sites are making it easier t bth buy and sell pre-lved items. It’s nw becme trendy t wear secnd-hand and it’s n lnger a case f nly buying it if yu can’t affrd anything else.
Nt everyne is cnvinced that these changes in shpping habits will d enugh t reduce ur fashin ftprint. But it’s clear that sme cnsumers nw want t cnsume less and make mre nvirnmentally friendly chices when they d buy. The fashin industry is therefre having t change, and the secnd-hand market is the star f the shw.
    (Nw listen again please.)
    Questins:
    14. In terms f reducing fashin ftprint, which slutin is nt mentined in the passage?
    15. Why will the resale market grw fast in the next ten years accrding t the passage?
    16. What is the passage mainly abut?
Questins17 thrugh 20 are based n the fllwing cnversatin.

W: Yeah, I was in Japan.
M: I’m heading there next mnth fr the marketing cnference. Any tips?
W: Well, I was there nly fr a few days, but there are a few things t remember if yu’re dining with the hsts.
M: Yeah. In Italy t. S, what shuld I remember?
W: Um... When yu meet peple yu dn’t knw, yu shuld intrduce yurself, then give a shrt bw. Japanese peple are extremely plite. It’s viewed fairly disrespectful t try t shake hands.
    M. In Italy, shaking hands is abslutely fine.
W: Oh, and filling yur wn glass is seen as rather ffensive in Japan. It’s mre plite t wait until smene fills it fr yu. Yu shuld remember t lk after yur neighbr’s glass.
M: That’s useful t knw. Peple in Italy just leave their glasses full if they dn’t want any mre wine.
W: Well, just remember that it’s cnsidered extremely rude t pint yur chpsticks at smene while talking, and dn’t use yur wn chpsticks t get fd frm the middle f the table. Use the serving nes.
    M: OK, I will.
W: Haha! Dn’t wrry abut it. Yu will be fine.
