    “Yes, sir!” answered Ben Weatherstaff.
    “I’m ging t d a scientific experiment(科学实验),” he said. “When I grw up, I’m ging t make scientific discveries abut magic and I’m ging t start with this experiment. D yu understand?”
    “Yes, sir!” said Ben Weatherstaff, but he didn’t really understand.
    “I believe that there is magic in everything.” cntinued Clin. “Dickn knws sme magic. He charms animals and peple. Mary als knws a bit f magic because she was brn in India. There’s magic in the garden, t. I’m ging t try and put sme in me because I want t be well and strng. I’m ging t say—Magic is in me! And yu must all say it, t. That is my experiment. Are yu ging t help, Ben Weatherstaff?”
    “Yes, sir!” answered Ben Weatherstaff.
    They sat dwn in a circle. The crw, the fx, the squirrels and the lamb were very curius.
    “Nw, let’s begin,” Clin said, and they all started chanting(吟唱).
    “Magic is in me. Magic is in me. Magic is in all f us.”
    Then Clin std up and walked rund the garden. He went in frnt with Dickn n ne side and Mary n the ther. Ben Weatherstaff walked behind.
    Clin walked a bit then rested. Then he walked again and rested again. At first, he held Dickn’s arm, then he walked a few steps alne.
    “I can walk! The magic wrked!” he cried.
    “What is the dctr ging t say?” asked Mary.
    “Nthing.” Clin answered, “because we aren’t ging t tell him. N ne must knw that I can walk and run. It’s a surprise fr my father when he cmes back t Misselthwaite.”

    One f the servants gave him the key, and he went t the bx and pened it. Prtia was very pleased. She culd nt believe it, until Bassani pened the bx and saw the picture f Prtia inside it. When he saw the picture, he lved her even mre because the picture was very beautiful. He wndered hw anyne culd paint such a gd picture f her. It was almst as beautiful as Prtia herself. He lked at all the parts f the picture. He lked at the eyes and the hair and the eyes. All f them were perfect. But Prtia herself even mre beautiful than her picture.
