As soon as the man finished talking, Yu Gong said that his family could continue to move the mountains after he died.Why was Yu Gong trying to move the mountains?Because they were so big that it took a long time to walk to the other side.Who is the Monkey King?He is the main character in Journey to the West.Why can’t the Monkey King turn himself into a person?He cannot turn himself into a person unless he can hide his tail. Step 2 Grammar learningas soon as用法用法:as soon as一……就;as soon as用于引导时间状语从句,相当于the second/moment/minute that。No wonder they are not asking for higher salaries as soon as they get out of school. 难怪他们一走出学校就没有要求高工资。as soon as两种用法1、指未发生的动作,规律是:主句一般将来时,从句用一般现在时代替一般将来时I will tell him the news as soon as he comes back.注:有时,为了特意表达刚刚完成某事就如何如何,需要用现在完成时。I will go with you as soon as I have washed my face.2、指紧接着发生的两个短动作,主从句都用一般过去时He took out his English books as soon as he sat down不过,我也见过从句和主句都用一般现在时的情况。As soon as he finishes his classwork,he runs out of the class.他一做完课堂作业,就跑出了。so… that…用法1.so… that…的意思是“如此地…以致于…”,它引导结果状语从句。在口语中,so…that…的that常被省去。She felt so sad that tears came to her eyes.她非常悲伤,泪水盈眶。John was so drunk(that)he could not stand still.约翰醉得站也站不住了。He spoke so rapidly(that)we could hardly follow him.他说得很快,我们很难听清楚他在说什么。2.so ...that “如此……以至于……”,引导结果状语从句,其结构如下:① so+形容词/副词+that从句② so+形容词+a/an+可数名词单数+that从句③ so+many/few+可数名词复数+that从句④ so+much/little+不可数名词+that从句He worked so hard that he passed the exam.他学习很努力,因此通过了这次考试。She is so lovely a girl that we all like her.她是一个很可爱的女孩,我们都喜欢她。3.在so ... that中,当that引导的结果状语从句是肯定句且从句主语与主句主语相同时,so ... that可以与 ... enough to do进行转换,当that引导的结果状语从句是否定句时,可与too ... to ... 或not ... enough to do进行转换。He is so strong that he can carry the box.= He is strong enough to carry the box.Jimmy is so young that he can’t go to school.=Jimmy is too young to go to school.=Jimmy is not old enough to go to school.Unless 用法1.unless 的意思是“ 除非,如果不 ”,它是从属连词,引导条件状语从句,含有否定意义,相当于 if 条件状语从句的否定形式。Unless bad weather stops me, I run every day. 除非坏天气作梗,我每天都跑步。If bad weather doesn’t stop me, I run every day. 如果天气不作梗,我每天都跑步。2.unless 引导的条件状语从句既可放于主句前,也可放于主句后,主句可以是肯定句,也可以是否定句。Unless someone steps in, they will make a mess of it. 除非有人介入,不然他们会搞得一团糟。Don’t come unless I telephone. 如果我没打电话给你,你不要来。3.unless 从句也可以用否定句,此时不能再用 if…not 结构替换。Don't ask me to explain unless you really don’t understand. 除非你真的不懂,否则别让我解释。We have a meeting every Friday, unless there is nothing to discuss. 我们每周五都开,除非没什么可讨论的事。4.主句为一般现在时、一般将来时、祈使句、或主句中含有情态动词,unless 引导的条件状语从句使用一般现在时。My baby sister never cries unless she is hungry. 我那刚出生的妹妹从来不哭,除非她是饿了。Iron corrodes easily unless it is greased or kept clean. 如果不涂油或保持清洁,铁会容易生锈。这里主句和从句都使用了一般现在时,表示客观事实。We’ll go for a picnic tomorrow unless it rains heavily. 除非明天下大雨,否则我们要去野炊。I won’t write unless he writes first. 我不会给他写信的,除非他先写。在这两个句子中,主句用了一般将来时,而从句用一般现在时表示将来,描述的是将来的动作,符合状语从句的“主将从现”原则。在这个原则下,主句还可以是祈使句或含有情态动词的句子,而从句依然用现在时表示时将来。Don’t touch the instruments unless the teacher allows you. 没有老师的允许,不准乱动仪器。We cannot understand disease unless we understand the person who has the disease. 我们不了解患者,就无法了解疾病。5.如果强调 unless 从句的动作发生在主句动作之前,从句可用现在完成时。Unless I’m mistaken, I’ve seen that man before.
