    Unit 1 She trained hard, so she became a great player later.

     

    一、教学目标

    1. 能够掌握下列词汇:

    medal, once again, give up, including, attend, abroad, doctor, degree, whatever, amazing, will, victory, simply

    2. 能够掌握下列句型:

    (1) She’s my hero because she’s one of the best table tennis players in the world, ...

    (2) She trained hard, so she became a great player.

    (3) She stopped playing when she was twenty-four.

    (4) Whatever she does, she never gives up!

    3. 语法:能够运用由because, so, so that引导的状语从句来表达原因、目的或结果。

    4. 语音:能够根据主从句的结构划分句子的停顿。

    5. 能够听辨对话中的人物及其关系,明确对话场所和话题。

    6. 能够讨论自己喜爱和敬佩的英雄人物及其事迹。

    7. 了解不同领域的一些英雄人物,学习他们的宝贵精神,培养刻苦努力、积极向上的人生态度。

    二、教学重点及难点

    重点:

    1. 能够听懂有关英雄人物的对话。

    2. 能够谈论自己心目中的英雄及其事迹。

    难点:能够按时间顺序讲述人物故事,并编排相关对话

    Step Ⅰ Warming-up

    Ss talk about the Olympic Games.

    T: What’s your favourite sport? Do you know the Olympic Games? Can you say something about

    it?

    S1: I like...

    S2: ...

    2. Ss look at the picture and talk about the questions.

    (1) What sport is it?

    (2) Can you play it?

    (3) Do you know any players who play it?

    设计意图:通过自由讨论奥运会和看图说话的活动方式引起学生的学习兴趣,活跃课堂气氛,引入本课话题。

    Step Ⅱ Pre-listening

    Activity 1

    1. T shows a picture about Deng Yaping and let Ss work in pairs to discuss the questions.

    (1) Who is she?

    (2) Why is she famous?

    (3) Can you say something more about her?

    2. T shows Ss some information about Deng Yaping

    设计意图:看有关邓亚萍的图进行人物讨论,让学生进一步熟悉主题人物,并通过了解人物背景情况,为下面的听力活动热身。

    Activity 2

    1. Ss listen and choose the correct answer.

    2. Ss listen again and check the answers individually.

    3. Choose one S to give his or her answers and check the answers with the whole class.

    设计意图:听录音完成相关练习,熟悉相关话题, 为单元主体活动做铺垫。

    Listen and order

    Ss listen to the conversation and order the pictures, then check the answers together

    Listen and complete

    Ss listen again and complete the sentences, then check the answer together.

    1. Deng Yaping started playing table tennis when she was five. She __________, so she became a great player later.

    2. Deng Yaping won many world competitions, including _________ in the Olympics.

    3. Deng Yaping stopped playing when she was twenty-four.

    4. Deng Yaping began to study at Tsinghua University in Beijing and then attended university abroad.

    设计意图:让学生带着问题听,提高学生听的效率。通过听力练习题目的设置,让学生获取对话主要内容和一些细节信息,锻炼学生快速获取信息的能力。

    Step IV Post-listening

    Activity 3

    1. T asks Ss to complete the table from memory.

    2. Ss check the answers in pairs.

    设计意图:学生通过回忆对话内容提取关键信息进行表格填空,加深对对话的理解。

    Role-play the conversation

    设计意图:通过回答问题帮助学生加深对对话的理解,再通过角色扮演,让学生巩固对对话的理解的同时,为完成下面活动5做准备。

    Language points

    1. She’s won many world competitions, including four gold medals in the Olympics. 她在很多世界级比赛中获胜,包括获得四块奥运会金牌。

    本句中including作介词,意思是“包括……在内

    2. …and then attended university abroad. 之后(她)去国外上大学。

    attend作动词意思是“出席,参加;上

    辨析:attend, join , join intake part in

    3. Whatever she does, she never gives up! 无论做什么,她都不放弃!

    give up的意思是“放弃

    give up doing sth.表示“放弃做某事

    4. I think she’s a good student as well as a good player. 我觉得她不仅是一个出色的运动员,而且还是一个好学生。

    as well as表示“不仅……而且……

    设计意图:讲解知识点,进一步掌握对话内容。

    Activity 4

    1. Ss complete the sentences individually.

    2. Ss check the answers by reading the conversation.

    3. T chooses some Ss to write down the answers on the blackboard.

    4. T checks the answers with all Ss.

    Activity 5

    1. Ss complete the passage from memory.

    2. T encourages some volunteers to read their complete passage.

    3. T checks the answers together.

    设计意图:通过填空,学以致用,检验对本课时话题的掌握程度。

    Activity 6

    1. Ss read the sentences first and mark the pauses individually.

    2. Ss listen and check their answers.

    3. T gets Ss to read the sentences after recording and tell them to pay attention to the pauses.

    4. T shows the correct answers to Ss and tell Ss how to mark the pauses.

    5. Ss listen again and repeat.

    设计意图:通过听力加跟读,帮助学生学会根据句子结构划分句子停顿。

    Activity 7

    1. Ss talk about their heroes and give the reasons.

    2. T shows some heroes in different fields.

    3. T encourages Ss to make their conversation. They can use the following conversation as a model.

    5. T chooses some Ss to talk about each other’s heroes with the whole class.

    My friend Jim likes Jackie Chan best. Jackie Chan is his hero because he’s a great film star and his films are fantastic.

    设计意图:通过互相谈论自己的英雄人物,帮助学生了解不同领域的英雄人物,巩固话题语言口语输出的同时,帮助学生拓展文化视野。

    T encourage Ss to think about what they have learned from the heroes and then show some

    possible answers.

    Everyday English

    T shows two sentences and has Ss read them together.
