I bought a jasmine plant for my office. When I bought it, I was told it would bloom(开花)and the sweet smell would fill my office. I had the plant for two months, and every day I looked at it, but there weren't any flowers or pleasant smell. I was not happy, so I gave the plant to my friend Linda.
One day, another friend Mary called and invited me to her office. When I walked in, her jasmine flowers surprised me. I reached out to touch the flowers. Mary cut some and gave them to me. I couldn't help smelling them. Surrounded by the sweet smell of only a handful of these flowers, I suddenly understood something.
Mary bought her plant the same time I did. It took a year for her jasmine to bloom. I was so impatient for mine to bloom; regretfully, I gave it away.
In a way my life is like the jasmine plant. I need to be patient and let things happen.
Last Sunday Linda told me that she was going abroad the next week. Before she left, sheretured the plant to me. This time I am going to wait. I have learned that when we want something in our life, we have to be patient. I am slowly learning to have that patience to wait for my jasmine to bloom.
    51. What did Mary give the writer?
    A. A jasmine plant. B. Some jasmine flowers.
    C. The writer's jasmine plant. D. Linda's jasmine flowers.
    52. How long did it take for Mary's jasmine to bloom?
    A. One month. B. Two months C. One year. D. Two years.
    53. What do you think the writer wants to tell us from the passage?
    A. Jasmine can be a wonderful plant. B. Flowers can make life better.
    C. Patience is needed in life D. Friendship is necessary for us.

Do you know how to greet people in different countries? Most people will say “Hello” or “Nice to meet you”. That's right. But greeting is never just that. To be both polite and friendly, you should know something more. In most areas and countries, people usually shake hands when they meet. But others are different. What are they? Read on to find out!
    Aloha, Hawaii!
In Hawaii, flowers are everywhere. People use them to welcome visitors. They put the flower on your neck. And they say“aloha”to you!
    Cheek kissing in France
France is famous for people's romantic way of greeting. They touch their cheeks together, and make a kissing sound.
    Take a bath together
People in Brazil love bathing very much. When you visit them, they will invite you to take a bath with them. What a strange way of greeting!
    Hands together and bow
People in Thailand will press their palms together and take a bow. If you hold your hands higher or take a lower bow, you show more respect to others.
    Share your breath
The Maoris in New Zealand touch their noses and foreheads to each other. What's that for? They are sharing breath with their guests. They think it is the best way to greet others.
Bow and stick your tongue out
In Tibet, China, you should bow and stick your tongue out. It shows you have no bad thoughts because you cannot curse (诅咒)people when your tongue's out.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? If you were like most children, you probably let your imagination run wild. Maybe you dreamed of flying into space or being a famous cook. Then perhaps over the years, your dreams became more realistic. Or you might have given up on some altogether.
It's important to have dreams because dreams can give us the energy to succeed in life. Dreams inspire (鼓励)us. They might take a few years or they might take a lifetime to achieve. But the most important thing is that you're supposed to work toward your dream.
And the best way to do that is by setting goals.
What is the difference between a dream and a goal? It's been said that dreams are the final destination(目的地); goals are the stops along the way. Dreams can be very general. But the steps you take to reach them should be very specific(具体的), Your dreams mean what you want, but goals explain how you'll get there. That makes goal setting a necessary step in reaching your dreams.
Many successful people have spoken about dreams. Former US Secretary of State Colin Powell stressed the importance of working for your dreams. “A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat(汗水), resolution and hard work.”Author Les Brown reminded us that dreams have no age limit. “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”
If you've been dreaming about doing something for years, start today. Write down your dream, and set your goals. Then you'll be on your way to making your dreams come true.
    61. Who did the writer probably write this passage for?
    A. Students. B. Teachers. C. Workers. D. Doctors.
    62. What is the most important for you to realize your dream?
    A. Having a dream. B. Making a promise.
    C. Working for the dream. D. Raising pressure.
    63. What can we mainly learn from the third paragraph?
    A. What your dreams mean. B. What your goals mean.
    C. The difficulties in reaching our goals. D. The differences between dreams and goals.
    64. What can we do according to what Author Les Brown said?
    A. We can learn from many successful people. B. We can have dreams even when we are very old.
    C. We can reach our dream through magic. D. We can reach our dream by setting goals.
    65. What can be the best title for the passage?
    A. What Your Dreams Mean B. Successful People's Ideas about Dreams
    C. Make Your Dreams Come True D. Difficulties in Reaching Goals

“Internet addiction (瘾)” was once used to describe young people who spent too much time watching videos or playing games online. But today, an increasing number of the old are becoming victims (受害者).
According to a report on the Internet use of China’s elderly people last year, 38.6% of people aged 60 or over were Internet users. And some surveyed elderly people spent at least 10 hours on the Internet every day.
Phone overuse could lead to the higher risk of many diseases. Besides health problems, elderly people’s phone addiction also brings family problems. For example, their adult children often get upset when they stay up late playing with the phone or shop online blindly.
Why do old people depend heavily on mobile phones? It’s because they have lots of spare time and they wish to communicate with others.
Though it’s natural for the elderly to meet their spiritual needs through the smart phone, they should limit their time on the Internet and get regular rest at night. Adult children should go home more often to talk with their parents and reduce their sense of loneliness and encourage them to do healthy activities.
32.What can we learn from the report?
A.An increasing number of the young played games online.
B.People aged 60 or over were easy to catch diseases.
C.About half of the surveyed people used the Internet.
D.Some surveyed elderly people overused the Internet.
33.What does the writer think of elderly people’s phone addiction?
A.It does harm to their health. B.It helps them shop easily.
C.It’s a waste of time and energy. D.It helps them communicate with their family.
34.What should adult children do according to the writer?
① Limit their own time on the Internet. ② Encourage their parents to do healthy activities.
③ Spend more time with their parents. ④ Teach their parents to use the smart phone.
    A.①② B.②③ C.③④ D.①④
35.What would be the best title for the text?
A.The Family Problems B.The Sense of Health
C.The Risk of Phone Overuse D.The Elderly People’s Internet Addiction

He asked us, “Can anyone tell me what this is?” Jack said, “The world?” Mr. Black said, “That’s close. This is your Comfort Zone(舒适区域). Inside your circle you have all the things that are important to you-your home, your family, your friends, and your job. People feel that inside this circle they are safe from any danger. Can anyone tell me what happens when you step out of this circle?”
Mr. Black then drew an arrow(箭头)pointing from the man to the outside of the circle. He went on saying, “When you leave your Comfort Zone, you will face the world that you are not comfortable with. The result is that you will learn something that you do not know and get more than what you have.” He then drew a bigger circle around the first circle, and added a few new things like more friends, etc, into it.

Space vegetables are grown from seeds(种子)that have been taken to space and brought back to the earth. The seeds are affected by the radiation(辐射)and low gravity(重力)in space. When they are brought back to the earth, these seeds produce vegetables that are bigger and healthier than normal vegetables. However, some people worry about eating space vegetables. In fact, people should not be frightened because space vegetables are very healthy.
Here are some facts that you should know about space vegetables.
Space vegetables are grown from seeds that are carefully chosen. When seeds are brought back from space, they are tested to make sure that they will be safe to eat.
Space vegetables are better for you than normal vegetables. For example, space tomatoes stay fresh for twenty days, which is one week longer than normal tomatoes.
