设计说明

展示一些关于运动的图片，并询问学生图片上的运动的名称，由此导入本单元的阅读话题；课文按照“速读—细读—读后运用”的基本步骤进行教学，培养学生的阅读技巧。其中，“读后运用”按照“先说后写，先易后难”的原则推进，使训练层层深入，步步为营，稳扎稳打。

教学目标

通过本单元的教学，让学生达成以下目标：

1.知识目标

掌握本单元新单词及短语: beat，careless，coach，against，train，practice，warm，usual，better，after­school，pleased，pass，pity，chance，loudly，confident，cheer...on，fan club，warm up。

2.能力目标

(1)能读懂介绍或描写体育活动的文章；能获取文章中的细节信息。

(2)能运用形容词或副词的比较级介绍自己喜欢的运动。

3.情感目标

在学习知识的过程中培养对体育运动的兴趣。

重点难点

重点：多音节形容词和副词的比较级用法，比较级的不规则变化

难点：用比较级描述体育运动

Step 1　Warming up

1. Ask students to read the words and expressions in Activity 1 and memorize them.

2. Let the students talk about the two pictures in Activity 1. Use the words to help them.

Step 2　Fast reading

1. Ask the students to read the passage and match the paragraphs and ideas.

2. Check the answers in pairs.

Step 3　Careful reading

1. Ask the students to read the passage paragraph by paragraph carefully and complete the table.

2. Ask the students to check the answers in groups.

3. Play the recording. Ask the students to read after it and find out the following phrases and translate them into Chinese.

Step 4　Language points

1. I am in our school team and we are going to play against another school next week.我是校队成员，我们下周将要和另一个学校比赛。

against为介词，表示“与……对抗”。

Germany will play against Brazil in the World Cup final tonight.

今晚德国（队）将与巴西（队）争夺世界杯冠军。

against另外一个常用意思为“反对”。

They are strongly against the idea.

他们强烈反对这个主意。

I gave up the piano lessons because I have so much homework to do，but it’s _______ my own wishes.

2. …so that we have time to warm up.……以便我们有时间热身。

(1) so that以便，用来引导目的状语从句。

We have moved to a place close to my parents’ home so that we can visit them every day.我们把家搬到离父母家很近的地方，以便每天都能去看看他们。

(2) warm up热身，做准备活动

The runners are warming up before the race.赛跑选手正在做赛前热身。

If you do not warm up before taking exercise，you may injure yourself.  

如果运动之前不做准备活动，你可能会受伤。

4. Our coach is pleased because...教练（对我们）很满意，因为……

pleased为形容词，意为“开心的；满足的”，与with连用表示“对……感到满意”。

We are pleased with her answer.我们对于她的答复感到很满意。

5. They cheer us on loudly and we feel more confident to win the game.

他们（球迷）大声地为我们欢呼加油，我们感到更有信心赢得比赛了。

cheer... on为……加油

People cheered their favourite player on.

人们为他们最喜爱的运动员喝彩加油。

They gathered round the swimming pool and cheered her on.

他们围在游泳池周围，给她加油。

Step 5　Practice

1. Ask the students to read the words in the box in Activity 3.

2. Complete the passage with the correct form of the words from the box.

3. Check the answers together.

4. Ask the students to retell the passage in groups.

5. Ask students to put the words in the box into pairs with opposite meanings in Activity 4. Ask the students to read the answers one by one.

1. Ask the students to complete the sentences so they are true for the school basketball team. And then ask them to read them in pairs.
