    Reading: Animals, our friends

     

    设计说明

    小组问答有关动物的问题及动物对他们的帮助,让学生熟悉本课节话题。另外,通过让学生思考并说出动物能为人类做的事情,为后面学习有关狗帮助人类的文章做铺垫。结合图片呈现本课节的生词。接下来,学习课文,并结合课文内容给图片排序。再通过提问问题,加深学生对课文的理解。设置判断正误的题目,检验学生的理解能力及关注细节的能力。对重点的生词、短语进行讲解,扫除学习障碍。最后,设置练习,巩固所学内容,提升英语运用能力。

    教学目标

    通过本课节的教学,让学生达成以下目标:

    1.知识目标

    学习本课节新词汇:cave, guard, blind, safely, police, thief, missing, hunt

    掌握用一般过去时陈述过去的情形;

    学会用情态动词can谈论能力

    2.能力目标

    能够读懂有关动物的文章,并向他人展示动物对人类的帮助。

    3.情感目标

    能够理解人与自然的密切关系,并能保护动物、维护自然平衡。

    重点学习本课节新词汇cave, guard, blind, safely, police, thief, missing, hunt

    难点能够读懂有关动物的文章,并向他人展示动物对人类的帮助。

    教学准备

    PPT课件;活动Look, read and match的录音,有关洞穴、猎人打猎、门卫、小偷、警察、钻石、盲人的图片

    教学过程

    Step 1 Talk

    Group work. Let the students ask and answer:

    (1) How can dogs help people?

    (2) Why do you have a dog?

    (3) How does it help you?

    (4) Is it a good friend?

     

    Step 2 Think and say

    1. Give the students some time to ask and answer:

    (1) Are dogs useful animals?

    (2) What can dogs do for people?

    2. Show some pictures to help the students.

       

       

     

    Step 3 Presentation

    Show some pictures to help the students understand the new words: cave, hunt, guard, thief, safe, safely, police, missing, blind.

    cave n. 山洞;洞穴  People lived in caves.

    hunt v. 猎取;猎杀hunter       People hunted for food.

     

             

    guard v. 守卫;保卫n. 门卫;看守   thief n. 窃贼;小偷  复数:thieves

    safe adj. 安全

    safely adv. 安全地

                

    policemen                 policewomen        

    police n. 警方

     

     

     

       

    missing adj. 失踪的

     

    blind adj. 瞎的;失明的

     

    Step 4 Look, read and match

    1. Give the students time to look at the pictures and read the text silently.

    2. In pairs, students match the pictures with the text and enter the numbers in the boxes.

    3. Play the recording. The students follow in their books and check their answers.

    4. Check the answers together.

    Answers: 1-6-4-3-2-5(由左至右,由上到下)

     

    Step 5 Read and answer

    1. Ask the students to read again and answer the following questions.

    (1) Where did people live with their dogs many years ago?

    (2) What did dogs do at that time?

    (3) What else did dogs do for people?

    (4) What do dogs do to help the police?

    (5) What do dogs do to help blind people?

    (6) What do dogs do to help farmers?

    2. Tell the students they can work in groups and discuss the answers.

    3. Walk around to provide help if necessary.

    4. Check the answers together.

    Answers:

    (1) They lived in caves.

    (2) They guarded the caves and kept people safe from danger.

    (3) They also helped people hunt animals for food.

    (4) They help catch thieves and find missing people.

    (5)They help blind people cross the road safely.

    (6) They bring other animals, like sheep, to the farmers.

     

    Step 6 Further reading

    1. Get the students to decide if the sentences are true (T) or false (F).

    (1) Many, many years ago, people lived with dogs in ancient buildings.

    (2) Dogs guarded the caves, protected people and helped people hunt animals for food.

    (3) Dogs can help the police to catch thieves, but they can’t do anything else.

    (4) To the blind, dogs can’t be helpful.

    (5) Dogs can help fishermen to catch fish.

    (6) Dogs can not only guard our homes but also play with people.

    (7) We should be friendly to dogs.

    2. Check the answers together.

    Step 7 Language points

    1. Dogs guarded the caves and kept people safe from danger.

    狗守卫着洞穴,使人安全,免遭危险。

    1guard ①〔动词〕守卫;保卫

    My uncle buys a dog to guard his house.我叔叔买了一条狗看家。

    ②〔名词〕警卫,保安

    There is a new guard at our school.在我们学校有一名新保安。

    2keep…from…保护……免于……

    We should do something to keep the children from danger.

    我们应该做点什么,以使孩子们免于危险。

    3danger 〔名词〕危险   

    in danger处于危险中     out of danger脱离危险

    The man was hurt in the accident. He is in danger now.

    这个人在事故中受伤了。现在他处于危险中。

    【拓展】 dangerous 〔形容词〕危险的,不安全的

    There are so many cars here. It’s dangerous.这儿有这么多汽车,很危险。

    2. They help the police catch thieves and find missing people.

    它们帮助警察抓捕小偷,找到失踪人员。

    1police名词〕警方   

    police集体名词,以单数形式出现,实为复数。用作主语时,谓语动词用复数。

    The police are looking for the child.警方在找那个孩子。

    Call the police for help.给警方打电话求助。

    2thief名词〕窃贼;小偷

    复数形式是thieves。在英语中,以ffe结尾的可数名词,复数变化规则是变f, fev,再加-es

    The thieves promised not to do it again.小偷们许诺再也不这样做了。

    3missing〔形容词〕失踪的   

    Where is my missing dog?我失踪的狗去哪儿了?

    【拓展】miss动词〕错过;思念

    I was late because I missed the first bus.

    我迟到的原因是我错过了第一班公交车。

    My grandparents don’t live with us. I miss them very much.

    我的爷爷奶奶没和我们住在一起。我非常想念他们。

     

    Step 8 Homework

    Read the content on page 13 again. Find books about dogs from the library. Draw pictures and write about how they help different people.
