设计说明

首先，展示一幅世界地图，通过“找一找，指一指”来引入新课。接着，学习本课生词，借助一个罗盘学习与方向有关的单词，为学习新课做好铺垫。

然后再学习课文，通过听录音填空、听录音跟读、读后判断正误、读后回答问题、读后找短语并翻译、表演对话等环节循序渐进地加深对课文的理解。最后，处理剩余的练习并进行总结。本课将听、说、读、写等活动穿插进行，使学生能够全面掌握学习内容。

Step 1 Review

Briefly recap what the students learned in the last unit, such as months and seasons.

Step 2  Leading in

Show a map of the world and give four questions. Get the students to find out the countries and point.

Questions:

Where is China?

Where is Australia?

Where is the U.S.?

Where is Japan?

Step 3  Presentation

1. Show a picture of a compass to teachthe new words direction, west, north, east, southeast and south.

direction /dɪˈrekʃn/n.方向        north /nɔːθ/n.北方

west /west/n. 西方east /iːst/n. 东方

southeast /ˌsaʊθˈiːst/ n.东南

                      south /saʊθ/n. 南方

2. Teachthe new words country, New Zealand, U.S., point and grandparent. First get the students to read the new words aloud by themselves, and then repeat the words two or three times after the teacher.

country /ˈkʌntrɪ/n.国家

New Zealand /ˌnjuː ˈziːlənd/新西兰（地名）

U.S. (= United States /juːˈnaɪtɪdsteɪts/)美国（地名）

point /pɔɪnt/v. 指；指向

grandparent /ˈɡrændpeərənt/n.（外）祖父；（外）祖母

Get the students to listen and fill in the blanks.(Let’s Do It! No. 1)

Step 11  Language points

1. North points up on a map. 在地图上，北方指向上。

(1) north 此处用作名词，意为“北方”。表示方向的名词：

这些方位词可以作名词、副词或形容词。

The sun rises in the east and goes down in the west.（作名词）

太阳从东方升起，在西方落下。

The plane is flying north.（作副词）

飞机向北飞行。

He is from East Africa. （作形容词）

他来自东非。

 (2) point不及物动词，意为“指；指向”。

　point up 指向上

　point down指向下

　point right指向右

　point left 指向左

2. East points right. 东方指向右。

  right此处用作副词，意为“向右；朝右”，与left相对。

Turn right at the cinema.   在电影院向右转弯。

(1) right作名词，意为“右”。on one’s right在某人的右边

My sister sits on my right in the picture.

(2) right形容词，意为“右边的；对的；正确的”。

3. A map of the world一张世界地图

　a map of意为“一张……地图”。

4. It’s north of the U.S. 它在美国的北方。

　此处north of相当于to/on the north of，意为“在（某物范围以外的）北面”。

　to, on和in与方位词连用时的区别：

　(1) to表示“（主语）在某特定范围之外”。

Japan is (to the ) east of China.

日本在中国的东面。

　(2) on表示“两地接壤”。

Hebei is on the north of Henan.

河北省在河南省的北边。

　(3) in表示“（主语）被包含在某一范围之中”。

Qingdao is in the east of China.

青岛在中国的东部。
