设计说明

　　本课时为综合课，通过图文匹配、听力选词、角色扮演、语法总结、看图作答等任务让学生继续学习与巩固There be结构、where开头的特殊疑问句和方位介词。重点是训练学生在真实语境中使用方位介词的能力。通过教学图片或视频资料等让学生分组练习所学语法项目，由机械操练到自由发挥，达到熟练运用所学句型和词汇的要求。

教学目标

　　1. 知识目标：

　　（1）掌握单词和短语：across，front，behind，town，around，north；across from，in front of。

　　（2）掌握句型：

　　—Is there...around here?

　　—Yes，there is.

　　—Are there any...near here?

　　—No，there aren’t.

　　The pay phone is across from/next to/in front of/behind...

　　The pay phone is between...and...

　　—Where’s the bank?

　　—It’s next to the post office.

　　2. 能力目标：

　　学会用There be 句型、where开头的特殊疑问句及介词或介词短语谈论物体间的相对位置。

　　3. 情感目标：

　　学会有礼貌地问路及指路，培养礼貌待人、乐于助人的品质；通过灵活运用问路及指路的交际用语，帮助学生树立学习英语的自信。

教学过程

　　Step 1　Warming up & Leading in

　　1. Daily greetings.

　　2. Revise the sentence “Is there...? ” by checking homework each other. Then practice the conversations in pairs.

　　For example：

　　S1：Is there a post office near your house?

　　S2：No，there isn’t.

　　S1：Is there a hotel near your house?

　　S2：Yes，there is.

　　Step 2　Presentation

　　1. Show the students some pictures. Have them describe the location of the pay phone，using the given prepositions.

　　For example：

　　T：Where is the pay phone?

　　S1：It’s next to the library.

　　Correct the students’ pronunciations if there’s something wrong.

　　2. Read the words and phrases in the pictures and translate them.

　　next to 挨着，靠近

　　across from 在……对面

　　on 在……（街/路）上

　　in front of 在……前面

　　behind 在……后面

　　3. Let the students read the sentences in 2a together. Then ask the students to match the sentences with the pictures. Write each number in the box.

　　Step 3　Listening

　　1. Work on 2b.

　　（1）Listen and fill in the blanks with the words in the box. Ask the students to read the words in the box before listening.

　　（2）Listen again and check the answers.

　　2. Ask the students to read the sentences. Work in groups.

　　（1）between...and...意为“在……和……之间”，通常表示在两者之间。

　　My house is between the library and the bank.

　　我家在图书馆和银行之间。

　　（2）in front of意为“在……前面”，表示在事物外部的前面；in the front of表示在事物内部的前面。

　　There is a river in front of the house.

　　房子前面有条河。

　　The teachers’ desk is in the front of the classroom.

　　（3）across from意为“在……对面”。

　　There is a bank across from the supermarket.

　　在超市的对面有家银行。

　　辨析：across，cross与crossing

　　①across为介词或副词，常与go，walk，run，swim等动词连用。

　　go across穿过

　　walk across 走过

　　②cross为动词，其后可接名词或代词作宾语。

　　They cross the river on a ropeway.

　　他们滑索道过河。

　　③crossing为名词，意为“十字路口”。

　　Turn at the third crossing.

　　在第三个十字路口转弯。

　　（4）next to意为“紧挨着，靠近”。

　　Our classroom is next to theirs.

　　我们的教室紧挨着他们的。

　　The post office is next to the bank.

　　邮局就在银行隔壁。

　　T：Look at the picture in 1a on page 43 and answer my questions.

　　1. Read the conversation in 2d. Then answer the questions.

　　（1）Where does Tony want to go? He wants to go to a bank.

　　（2）Who is new in town? Tony is new in town.

　　（3）Where is the bank? It’s on Center Street.

　　（4）Is there a park near the bank? Yes，the park is across from the bank.

　　2. Find out the sentences in 2d. Translate them into Chinese and explain when to use them.

　　（1）Excuse me. 劳驾。（打扰别人或请求帮助时）

　　（2）How can I help you? 需要我帮忙吗？（主动提出帮助时）

　　（3）Oh，that’s great! 哦，太棒了！（表扬别人或赞同别人时）

　　（4）No problem. 没什么。（回答别人的请求或感谢时）

　　3. Listen to 2d and repeat after the recording.

　　Step 5　Grammar Focus

　　1. Read and translate the sentences in the chart.

　　2. Talk about the expressions and fill in the blanks.

　　（1）There be结构的含义是（某地）存在某人或某物；There be结构的主语是be动词后面的名词。

　　（2）在There be结构的句子中，主语为可数名词单数或不可数名词时，be动词用is；主语为可数名词复数时，be动词用are；主语为几个并列的名词时，be动词的形式由最靠近它的名词确定，即遵循“就近原则”。

　　（3）无法确定有没有某人或某物时用①“Is there...?” 或②“Are there...?”，如果确定有，但不知在何处时用③“Where is/are the...?”。①和②都属于一般疑问句，肯定答语为“Yes，there is/are.”；否定答语为“No，there isn’t/aren’t.”。③为特殊疑问句，其答语是“……在某地”。

　　—Are there any pay phones in our school?

　　—Yes，there are. Some are in the teaching buildings and some are in front of the students’ apartments.

　　“我们学校里有付费电话吗？”“是的，有。一些在教学楼里，一些在学生公寓前面。”

　　—Where are the pay phones?

　　—They’re in front of the students’ apartments.

　　“付费电话在哪里？”“在学生公寓前面。”

　　Step 6　Practice

　　1. Fill in the blanks with “be”.

　　It’s a beautiful Sunday. There are lots of people in the park. They are playing happily. A boy is playing the guitar under a tree. On the square，there are many people dancing. Are there any kids in the park? Yes，they are playing here and there. There is a lake in the park. There are lots of fish in it.

　　2. Look at the map and answer the questions in 3a.

　　Then ask and answer the questions in pairs.

　　Answers：（1）It’s between the hospital and the post office.

　　（2）Yes，there’s one across from the police station.

　　（3）It’s on North Street next to the police station.

　　（4）It’s on New Street next to the bank.

　　（5）No，there isn’t. There’s one on New Street.

　　3. Look at the map in 3a and write three sentences. Then ask some students to read their sentences in class.

　　Answers：（1）The restaurant is near the police station.

　　（2）The park is across from the hotel.

　　（3）The hospital is next to the bank. （答案仅供参考）

　　4. Guessing game

　　Ask the students to look at the picture in 1a on page 43. Then ask the students to name all the places in the picture. Have the students work in groups. One student chooses a place in the picture of 1a，but he/she doesn’t tell anyone which place it is. The others ask questions like those in the activity in 3c until they guess which place it is. Several students can take turns to choose the place，and the others will guess.
