Grammar: Using the past continuous Tense 运用过去进行时态 语法简介：过去进行时态 （一）构成 was (were) + 动词-ing构成。 (二)形式 过去进行时的肯定式: I was working. You were working. He/She/It was working. We/You/They were working. 现在进行时的否定式: I was not working. You were not working. He/She/It was not working. We / You / They were not working （三）用法： 过去进行时表示过去正在发生或进行着的动作 例如：You were listening to me. They were learning English. What were you doing? He was watching TV . 过去进行时的用法：表示在过去某一时刻或某一时间正在进行的动作。这一特点的过去时，除了有上下文暗示以外，一般用时间状语来表示。 --When were you doing this time yesterday? --We were working in class. He was mending his bike at ten o’clock yesterday. I was drawing a horse when the teacher came in. While she was trying to pass a truck before her, she saw another car coming. 如：Mary wrote a letter to her friend last night. Mary昨晚给她的朋友写了封信。（信写完了 。） Mary was writing a letter to her friend last night. Mary昨晚一直在给她的朋友写信。（信不一定写完。） Task 4 Practice Look! Some children ____________(chat). Sorry, I ________(help) the baby tie the shoelace at present. Some children ___________(chat) this time yesterday. Sorry, I ________(help) the baby tie the shoelace at that time. I _______(wash) my face at 6 this morning. It took us a long time to work it out. Task 5 Presentation A)当两个延续（思考．举例）的动作同时发生，两个句子都可用过去进行时来表示，用while连接 People ________(run)wildly while pieces of glass and bricks ________(fall)down. 2. Yesterday afternoon, while Daniel _______ (work) on the computer, Millie ________(stand) beside him. 3 We ______(clap) our hands while the performers _______(march) across the park. B) 当一个延续的动作正在发生的时候，另外一个瞬间动作发生了，可用“when”或“while”连接，较长的动词用过去进行时，较短动词用一般过去时． Hello kitty _____(wave) to the visitors while she _________(dance) to the music. We _______(read) a terrible story when suddenly the lights ______(go) out. The doorbell _______(ring) while we __________(talk) on the phone yesterday. Task 6 Practice 1. ______Simon arrived, Amy was reading. 2. I was reading English ______ the teacher came in. 3. _____my mother was cooking, the phone rang. 4.
