    The tpic f this unit is abut teenage life, which belngs t the theme cntext f “humans and neself”.


    As teenagers wh shulder the respnsibility f “Chinese great dream”, they must fully knw themselves, including their strengths, weaknesses and challenges etc. They are suppsed t imprve themselves cntinuusly and readily study their subjects, and thus fster their strategies and cnfidence in lifelng studies.


    This perid is entitled the freshmen challenges, which mainly cncerns sme big challenges fr new students in Senir high schl. In this perid, a teacher shuld lead students t find ut what their challenges are and guide them t figure ut hw t crack the challenges and better themselves. Mre imprtantly, a teacher shuld instruct students t absrb new language pints and appreciate the language. Besides, a teacher must instruct students t acquire sme skills cncerning reading efficiently and inspire them t talk mre abut their new schl life, especially their new prblems and slutins bth at schl and in life.

    1. Enable students t acquire the basic usage f the new wrds and expressins cncerning the freshmen challenges and learn t use them flexibly.


    2. Enable students t have a gd understanding f the freshmen challenges in the new senir high schl which is quite different frm junir middle schl.


    3. Develp students’ sense f cperative learning and individual thinking capability.


    4. Develp students’ different learning skills t slve different reading cmprehensive prblems.

    1. Develp students’ reading ability such as skimming, scanning and summarizing.


    2. Let students talk abut their new schl challenges in senir high schl and encurage them t find the pssible slutins t cnquer them.

    1. Warming up


    Step 1 Leading-in


    Have a free talk with students. Ask them the fllwing questins:


    Hw d yu feel abut yur senir high schl? Have yu cme acrss sme challenges that make yu upset?


    Step 2 Pre-reading


    Let students guess what the text will be mainly abut befre reading by lking at the picture and the title.


    Step 3 Reading


    1. Fast reading


    Ask students t skim the reading passage t sum up the main idea f each paragraph and then discuss it with their partners.
