Passage 1
Owen Howkins was born with a very unusual illness. According to Owen's father, Will Howkins, at present there are only around 30 people in the world with the illness. Owen always needs a wheelchair to get around. Not surprisingly, people are always looking at him and that used to make the young boy nervous and uncomfortable. Owen became lonely and even stopped going outside his house. That, however, was all before a dog named Haatchi came into his life!
Haatchi had a very difficult start in life, too. When he was just five months old, the dog was hit by a train. His tail and a leg were hurt so badly that both had to be cut off. Luckily, his story was posted online and was seen by Owen's father and mother. They fell in love with Haatchi and decided to keep it, thinking that they were helping it.
In fact, it was Haatchi who helped them. By always staying with Owen, it became the boy's best friend. Slowly, Owen liked going out. Now he proudly walks around the neighborhood, showing off his dog and telling anyone Haatchi's story.
Haatchi's influence on the young boy is great. In October 2012, the International Fund for Animal Welfare gave Haatchi a special award(奖). The amazing friendship between the two has been shown in a short film called A Boy and His Dog. It has not only won several awards, but also been watched by millions of people. British writer Wendy Holden has also written their story in a heart-warming children's book.

If music makes you smarter and exercise helps you to think, surely exercising to music can turn you into a clever person.
A team of scientists from Ohio State University did experiments on 33 volunteers who were getting better from heart disease after operations. They found those volunteers who exercised while listening to Italian musician Antonio Vivaldi's The Four Seasons did much better on language ability tests than without music. It is also used in medical fields for patients who have had head hurts because of its moderate tempo(舒缓的节拍).
“Exercise seems to cause good changes in the nerve(神经) system and these changes may improve the learning ability of people with heart disease,” said Charles Emery, who led the study. “And listening to music is thought to enhance understanding. We just wanted to put the two results together,” he added.
The volunteers said they felt better after exercising with or without music. But their improvement on the test doubled after listening to music during exercise. Scientists have proved that music can be good for health and education. It helps reduce stress and sadness, encourage relaxation or sleep, wake up the body and improve memory and thoughts.
Scientists have been studying the results of exercise to music on learning and understanding since the early 1950s. A study showed that students who listened to Mozart's violin pieces and exercised went on to get higher marks in an IQ test. Artificial intelligence(AI) (人工智能) is growing rapidly. We are living in a world that depends more and more on AI. AI is a group of technologies that help machines get,understand and use information to do tasks.
AI's recent developments have got a lot of social attention. Some people have welcomed AI because it makes things possible. For example, AI will have a big influence on areas like medicine and engineering. But this attention has also produced a lot of fear. Especially,many workers are worrying that AI could make them lose their jobs.
According to a recent study,nearly five percent of jobs will disappear because of AI.
