feel nervous when I see the envelope from school, but luckily I did OK this time. My math teacher said I was hard-working. She was right. I have really been working hard at math. I am really busy, but happy here. I have studied in Churchill Language School for two months. I couldn't completely understand the teachers in class, though I have studied English before. After dinner, I said to it, “Fetch me the book!” And it did it at once. While I was doing my homework, it was lying at my feet in silence. What a lovely dog!

What a good friend should be like Recently, we did a survey in our school on what a good friend should be like. Is it necessary for students to do housework at home? Two students of our school did a survey about this. According to the result, some students (about 30%)thought it was not necessary for students to do housework. They thought it was the job of their parents. As students, their duty was to study hard. They had no time to do housework because of their heavy homework. However, most of the students (about 70%)thought it was good for students to do homework. Because they could learn a lot by doing it, and know how hard their parents worked. I think we students should spend some time on housework, no matter how busy we are.

In May I joined in the Loving Travel which was organized by our city. The topic of the activity is loving parents and taking good care of the old people. About eighty senior citizens took part in it. First we went to Wuhan by bus, and then we went to Guilin by train. All the members were attracted by its beautiful mountains and rivers when we visited Lijiang by boat. The travel lasted five days. The old men and women were looked after very well. They are thankful to their children for their love. They hope more people could enjoy such love.

     English Reading Interests of Middle School Students Recently a survey has been done to find out the English reading interests of middle school students. In this survey, one thousand middle school students from ten schools in Jilin were interviewed. They were asked which they liked reading most among four kinds of English articles: news, stories, popular science articles and articles about ways of learning. The survey shows that more than half of the students like to read stories; almost 22% of the students say that popular science articles are their favorite; about 12% of the students are most interested in reading articles about ways of learning. Only 7% of the students enjoy reading news.
