At first, Friday was very afraid f my gun. Smetimes he talked t it, and asked it nt t kill him.
    Friday was a quick learner and his English gt better day by day. He helped me with the gats and with the wrk in the crnfields, and sn we were gd friends. I enjyed teaching him and, mst f all, having a friend t talk t. This was the happiest f all my years n the island.
    Friday and I lived tgether happily fr three years. I tld him the stry f my adventures and abut life in England, and he tld me abut his cuntry and his peple.
