一、常见比较级结构
A
as…as
此结构可用修饰语：(not)nearly, almost, just, nothing like, exactly, half, once, twice, three times, 30 percents等
He doesn’t play half as well as you.
This dress is twice as expensive as that.
B
more than
指数量多于
I’ve known him for more than twenty years.
不只是，不仅仅
He is more than a father to her.
He more than smiled, but laughed.
极其，非常
She was more than kind to us.
He was more than upset by the accident.
难以，完全不能，常与情态动词can连用
That is more than I can tell
= I can’t tell that.
C
less than
指数量不足，不到
It’s less than a mile from the station.
In less than an hour he finished it.
比….小，比……少
She eats less than she should.
一点也不
He was less than helpful when we arrived.
D
more…..than
比……多，比……更
He is more careful than the others.
与其……不如
He is more lucky than clever
与其说他聪明，不如说他幸运。
He is more a scholar than a teacher.

less……than
不像，不如
He is less honest than his brother.
比…..少，不如……多
We drink less coffee than tea
我们喝咖啡不如喝茶多。
I got less money than the others did

与其…….不如
I regard him less as my teacher than as my friend

no + 比较级 + than 表示：与……一样不
not + 比较级 + than 表示：不如…….更
You are no more careful than he is
你和他一样不仔细。
You are not more careful than he is
你不如他更仔细。

no more than / not more than
no more than = only，仅仅，只有
not more than = at most，最多，不多于
He has no more than three wishes
他只有3个愿望。
He has not more than three wishes
他最多只有3个愿望。

no more……than / not more……than
no more……than = neither….nor 同…….一样不
not more……than = not so……as 不如，不及，都具有某种品质，但是程度不一样
He is no more a writer than a painter
他既不是画家，也不是作家。
This book is not more difficult than that one
这本书不如那本书更难。

no less than / not less than
no less than 多达，有……之多，强调多
not less than 不下于，不少于，至少
He has no less than seven questions
他有7个问题之多。
He has not less than seven questions
他至少有7个问题。

no more……than / no less…….than
no more……than 表示：与…….一样不，两者都否定
no less…….than 表示：和……一样，两者都肯定
She’s no more a great singer than I am. 他不是个优秀的歌手，我也不是。
Your brother is no less wise than you. 你的兄弟跟你一样聪明。

1.with+宾语+形容词
2.He often sleeps with the windows open.
3.Don’t speak with your mouth full.
4.With+宾语+副词
5.He stood before his teacher with his head down.
6.He was lying on the bed with all his clothes on.
7.With+宾语+名词
8.He died with his daughter yet a schoolgirl.
9.With+宾语+介词短语
10.She said goodbye with tears in her eyes.
11.He was asleep with his head on his arms.
12.With+宾语+doing
13.He fell asleep with the lamp burning.
14.I won’t be able to go on holiday with my mother being ill.
15.doing表示动作正在进行或在当时看来已是一种在持续的状态。
16.With+宾语+过去分词
17.He sat there with his eyes closed.
18.All the afternoon he worked with the door locked.
19.过去分词表示它与前面作宾语的名词或代词具有被动的关系。
20.With+宾语+不定式
21.I can’t go out with all these clothes to wash.
22.With so many people to help us, we are sure to finish it on time.
三、副词
（一）时间副词
1.Still, already, just等通常位于实义动词之前，be动词之后；当表示强调时，still和already也可位于be动词等助动词之前
2.She still was beautiful at the age of forty.
3.I already have told him about it.
4.Still若用于否定名，则总是位于助动词之前
5.I still don’t understand what you mean.
6.Still和already还可位于句末，表示惊奇
7.Are you on Page One still?
8.Is your mother back already?
（二）方式副词
1.有的方式副词（如bravely, cleverly, cruelly, foolishly, generously, kindly, secretly, simply等）位于谓语动词之前或位于句末会导致句子意思发生变化
2.They secretly decided to leave the city.
3.他们秘密地决定离开这个城市。
4.They decided to leave the city secretly.
5.他们决定秘密地离开这个城市。
（三）频度副词
1.常见的频度副词
2.ever, never, seldom, rarely, usually, continually, always, once, often, occasionally, constantly, frequently
3.含有否定意义的频度副词放在句首时，其后要倒装
4.Never have I been there.
5.Seldom does he see a film.
6.频度副词在否定句中的位置
7.有的频度副词可位于否定词not之前或之后（如usually, often），
8.He doesn’t usually come here. = He usually doesn’t come here.
9.有的频度副词必须位于否定词之后（如always, constantly, continually, continuously,均含有“连续不断”之意），
10.She doesn’t always come late.
11.而有的却必须位于否定词not之前（如sometimes, frequently）
12.He is sometimes not responsible for what he does.
（四）焦点副词
1.Only在句中的位置不同，意义不同
2.Only I kissed her last night. （只有我吻了她）
3.I only kissed her last night.（即没干别的事）
（五）连接副词
1.常见的有
2.therefore, moreover, besides, otherwise, however, meanwhile, thus, at the same time, furthermore, consequently
3.用于连接并列句子的连接副词，这些副词前要用分号或句号。如果用逗号，必须加上并列连词如and
4.Peter is our youngest child, and we have three others besides.
5.I don’t like it; besides, it’s too expensive.
6.We all tried our best; however, we lost the game.
