探究二： 知识点解读

1.Nowadays, millions of Chinese leave the countryside to search for work in the cities.

 million意为“百万”，当million与具体数字连用时，其后不加s和of。million of意为“数以百万的”。

  search作不及物动词时, 意为“搜索; 搜查”。表示为寻找某物而搜查某人或某物。search for意为“搜寻，寻找”，与look for同义。search也用作名词时，常用短语in search of，后接寻找的人或物。

a 46­year­old husband and father一位46岁的丈夫和父亲。

“数词＋名词＋形容词”作定语时，用连字符“­”连接，且其中名词用单数形式；作表语时，不用连字符，表示复数概念时，名词用复数形式。

shame作抽象概念, 为不可数名词, 意为“羞耻; 羞愧; 惭愧”。与a连用, 表示“可耻的人或事; 可惜(遗憾)的事”。

 It's a shame.意思是“真遗憾,多可惜啊”,相当于That's a shame./What a shame.后面可接不定式或由that引导的从句。

常见用法to one's shame 令某人感到羞愧地with shame 羞愧地a sense of shame 羞耻感What a shame！多遗憾！
