    Module 5  Cartoons

    Unit 1  Its time to watch a cartoon.

    设计说明

    首先通过学生熟悉的动画片导入学习主题Cartoons,让学生在学习本单元新单词的基础上通过听力练习了解如何对动画片进行评价;再通过大量的听说训练逐渐能够就动画片和动画人物进行询问和应答,表达出自己的观点态度,并掌握本单元核心词汇和重要结构的用法。同时从中体会一般现在时、一般过去时和现在完成时三种时态在具体语境中的运用。

    教学目标

    通过本单元的学习,让学生达成以下目标

    1.知识目标:

    掌握单词和短语:cartoon, handsome, smart, sky, fight, cool, hero, humorous, laugh, lesson, cant help doing sth.

    2.能力目标:

    (1)能够识别对话中提及的卡通故事和人物

    (2)能够识别说话人对卡通故事及人物的态度

    (3)学会询问和回答关于卡通故事和人物的信息

    3.情感目标:

    学会倾听他人对卡通片的看法;养成关心、帮助他人的良好品质;认识到动画片的悠久历史和灿烂的文化

    重点难点

    重点对话中不同时态的运用,固定结构can’t help doing sth. It’s time to do sth.I don’tthink...的运用

    难点一般现在时、一般过去时和现在完成时三种时态的区分运用

    教学过程

    Step 1 Warming up

    1.Show some pictures of cartoons to students and ask them to say out their names.

               

      

    2. Ask students the following questions and let them answer them.

    (1)What kind of cartoons do you like?

    (2)Do cartoons always end in a happy way?

    (3) What cartoons do you think are funny?

    Step 2  Learning about new words

    1. Let students know the meanings of the following new words with the help of pictures and so on.

    cartoon, handsome, smart, sky, fight, cool, hero, humorous, laugh, lesson, cant help doing sth.

    1. Lead the students to read the new words three times or more.

    Step 3 Listening and speaking

    1.   Ask the students to listen to the tape and find out Bettys and Tonys answers to the following questions.

    1What kind of cartoons does Betty/Tony like?

    Answer:Betty likes exciting cartoons.  Tony likes funny cartoons.

    2Do Betty and Tony think cartoons always end in a happy way?

    Answer:Yes, they do.

    3What cartoons do they think are funny?

    Answer:They think Tom and Jerry is funny.

    1.   Ask the students to look at the words in Activity 2. And then work in pairs to practice speaking with these words.

    For example:

    S1:What kind of cartoons do you like?

    S2: I like ... cartoons.

    S1:Whats your favourite cartoon?

    S2:My favourite cartoon is...

    Step 4 Listening, reading and practice

    1.   Ask the students to listen to the dialogue and answer the following question.

    How many cartoons are there in the dialogue?

    A.Two          B.Three         C.Four

    1.   Ask the students to listen to the dialogue again and answer the following questions.

    (1)Which cartoon does Daming want to watch?

    (2)Which cartoon does Tony want to watch?

    (3)Do they both like Tom and Jerry?

    1.   Ask the students to role-play the dialogue with their deskmate.
    2.   Ask the students to read the dialogue by themselves and then answer the following questions.

    (1)What does Tony think about Spiderman?

    Answer: Its more modern and Spiderman is cool.

    (2)Why does Daming think Superman is better?

    Answer: Because hes stronger than Spiderman. He can fly through the sky and fight bad people and he is a real hero.

    (3) Why do they both like Tom and Jerry?

     Answer:  Because Tom and Jerry is a humorous cartoon. Tom and Jerry are very funny.

    (4)What lesson can Tony learn from Tom and Jerry?

     Answer:  They fight a lot, but they really love each other. Sometimes they protect each other and work together.

    1.   Ask the students to find the following words in the dialogue and say their meanings.

    1.   Ask the students to complete Activity 4 and check their answers.

    Answers: (1)cartoons (2)humorous  (3)laughing  (4)heroes  (5) fight  (6)lessons

    1.   Ask the students to work in pairs to describe their favourite cartoon character or the characters in Activity 5.

    For example:

    S1:Whats your favourite cartoon character?

    S2:My favourite cartoon character is

    S1:Why do you like it?

    S2: I think he/she is...

    Step 5 Language points

    1. Do cartoons always end in a happy way? 卡通片常以快乐的方式结束吗?

     in a way  表示“以一种……的方式”。

    2. Its time to watch a cartoon.是时候看卡通片了。

     Its time for sb.to do sth. 表示“到(某人)做某事的时候了”。

     Its time for sth./Its time for doing sth.表示“该做某事的时候了”。

     Its time to have breakfast.

      =Its time for breakfast/ having breakfast.

       该吃早饭了。

    3. He can fly through the sky and fight bad people.他能在空中飞并且打败坏人。

     fight   v. (fought, fought) 与……战斗

           n. 战斗;斗争

    fight sb. “和某人打仗”

    fight for sth. “为……打仗”

    Lets fight poverty and disease together.

      让我们一起克服贫困和疾病。

    4. He keeps fighting bad people.他坚持和坏人作斗争。

      keep doing sth. “坚持做某事”。

      We must keep learning English every day. 我们必须坚持每天学英语。

    5. I cant help laughing when I watch them! 我看这些总禁不住大笑!

      cant help doing sth. “禁不住做某事”。

     The boy cant help crying when he knows what is happening.

    男孩知道发生了什么的时候禁不住哭了。

    6. I think theres a lesson there! 我认为这里面蕴含着道理!

      lesson  n.  “经验,教训”

      teach sb. a lesson 给某人个教训

     This is a lesson for you all! 这就是给你们所有人的教训!

    Step 6 Pronunciation and speaking

    1.Let the students read the sentences of Activity 6.

    2.Let the students read the sentences again and ask them to try underlining the words the speaker stresses.

    3.Let the students listen to the tape and check their answers.

    4.Show the correct answers to the students.

    5.Let the students listen to the tape again and read after the tape aloud.

    6.Ask the students to work in pairs to ask and answer the questions in Activity 7.

    Step 7 Homework

    1. Read and retell the dialogue.

    2.Remember the words and expressions of Unit 1.
